Monte Manos 1517 m
Monte Manos 1517 m is a massive wooded and grassy pyramid located between the saddles of Cocca Manos and Cocca Veglie and belonging to the Prealpi Bresciane e Gardesane, subgroup Pizzocolo - Zingla - Manos. This small subgroup occupies the SW part of the Garda mountains, with mainly rounded peaks with numerous rocky outcrops. Monte Manos, frequented since ancient times, is surmounted by a large metal cross and is frequently climbed for the vast panorama that ranges from the mountains of the Adamello group to the plain and the Apennines. It's a mountain overlooking the town of Capovalle, the western Valvestino and the Val Degagna, rich in remnants of the First World War, and easily accessible from the Colonia di Coccaveglie.
The starting point to summit is Cocca Veglie 1225 m.
From Idro, on the lake of the same name, leave the provincial road 237 of Caffaro and turn right towards Valvestino. As soon as you leave the village, turn right again towards Treviso Bresciano. You pass the village and continue towards Passo Cavallino della Fobbia and Cocca Veglie. After about 8 km of narrow and partly unpaved road, you park your car at Cocca Veglie, near the Guardia di Finanza barracks which has been transformed into a summer camp for kids.
Difficulty: E
Difference in level: 300 m from Cocca Veglie
A pleasant and easy walk
We begin to follow the dirt road that passes next to the colony and climbs slightly with a beautiful view of part of Lake Idro and the underlying Sanctuary of the Madonna di Riosecco. After the first bend to the right, we continue on the dirt road until the next bend to the left that crosses the Southern side of the mountain.
At about 1300 meters above sea level, a very narrow, unmarked road with hairpin bends branches off to the left, which continues on the Western side of the mountain.
The path leads to the ridge at 1404 m, a saddle where there are some ruins of military buildings dating back to the First World War. Here the large summit cross appears. Along the next mule track that always climbs steadily on the grassy sides of the mountain, we reach the panoramic peak with the beautiful summit cross.
