Skate skied to the picnic area, dropped the skis and put on the shoes for the quick 3/4 mile hike to the summit of Mores. Beautiful winter day with about 1/2 dozen others.
Combined Mount Mores and Shafer Butte. Aside from dropping my bags at home, this may have been the first thing I did upon arrival in Boise.
Sweaty hike on a humid day
Took the kids on an easy Sunday hike. The littlest hit his highest point yet in the mountains at 6. He was excited.
Parked at the Shafer Butte Campground and followed trails/roads in a loop around Mores Mountain. Returned to car and followed easy trail to the top. Great views of the snow-capped Sawtooths far off in the distance. Looking forward to a bit of skiing up here come winter time.
Nice little hike to get away from the grind of the city. Such a peaceful day.
A nice kick back and relax summit. J. Freland - you do have a life. Thanks for the accessories. I enjoyed them.
fun skiing on the scantily clad slopes in Nov.
Nice hike on a beautiful trail from the campground. Nice views.
We do this every year now and my son really likes this hike. Its perfect for him! (8 years old)
A nice peak to combine with Shaffers Butte and I got an education about stinging nettles that grow along the trail
Thanks to John and Steve for taking the time to do this one with me. It'd be fun to ski this area in the winter.
Went with Brother and Dad (tanner921 and deltaoperator17). Nice evening hike and did some rock climbing.
A fun family hike on a crisp fall morning. Both of my sons (ages 5 and 2.5) did the entire trip under their own power. Good times. Trip Report
Fun time with my dad spur of the moment type. Two peaks two days we were shooting for three peaks but we were wiped out.
Very enjoyable hike, beautiful day. My Son Tanner and I Did Shafer the day before after a day of him Mountain Biking. Got up in the morning and stashed our big packs and got to the top. Some question on the summit. Is it where the geocache can with a register or the Rock that Idahokid has pictured? We did both just to be safe...
I came up from the North because I forgot money to pay with at the trailhead. It turned out to be pretty fun as the route i took was pretty much a class 3 scramble over solid and rotten granite with a nasty bushwhack near the top. I might post a route for it here. The air was smoky until later in the day so the view wasn't that great. Also did Shafer Butte.
The kids first summit at 13 months. Took her out of the back pack on top and she went straight for the summit register. Great family hike and picnic area. Nice place to get away very close to Boise.
I've only done this on skis. One of the best local BC runs around.
About the best BC skiing you can get so close to Boise
One of my favorite short hikes when I lived in Boise.
