Route Climbed: Green Gullies Date Climbed: 19 August 2005  Sucess!

Another excellent day on Mostertshoek. This time round we did a slightly more challenging left-hand variation to the standard route. This involved some desparete thrutching up semi-frozen waterfalls on dodgy ice and snow.

A highlight was having to tunnel through the snow underneath and behind a huge chockstone, which was more inviting than tackling the rotten ice on the front side.

The only down-side of any "Green Gullies" ascent is the obligatory thrash through man-eating fynbos and the start and end of the day. :-(

I've added a few photos here.

Route Climbed: East face, via Waaihoek Date Climbed: 22 November 2003  Sucess!

A long, hot day in the Hex. We decided to climb Zebusberg (1902m), Waaihoek Peak (1948), and Mostertshoek Twins in one day. It took over 12 hours to complete it, and we ended up crashing through plenty of thick riverbed vegetation in the dark towards the end, but it was still a massively rewarding day out.

Route Climbed: Green Gullies / Traverse of the Twins Date Climbed: August 2003  Sucess!

Big day of winter climbing in the Hex. Summited the south Twin via Green Gullies from the Vredehoek side, then dropped down into the nek between the Twins, ascended north Twin and finally off the mountain to the north at Wolvekloof: 14hrs on the go.

Route Climbed: Waaihoek route (normal route) Date Climbed: Oct 2002  Sucess!

MCSA hike. The most perfect early summer day possible, cool air, clear views, we were up on Waaihoek Peak at about 9am and on top of the Twins at about noon.

Awesome fun doing some alpine climbin' in Africa.

Short days and many pitches of roped climbing lead to a somewhat epic descent and unplanned bivi, however, when the car mysteriously disappeared somewhere in a sea of fynbos on a pitch-black and moonless night.
