Pres Traverse  Sucess!

I've climbed Adams a couple times doing the pres traverse (twice in summer, once in winter), never climbed it by itself. Would love to spend more time on this one.

Via Gulfside to Airline  Sucess!

After losing Flanders on Jefferson, I hiked up this one to do a loop looking for him. No visibility and high winds with rain. It stunk. Found my way down the backside and went to Madison Hut and then started backtracking on Gulfside where we finally found each other. Eighth peak on a south to north Presidential Traverse.

Airline maybe?  Sucess!

120 miles of visibility...only the second day this year! In talking to locals they said that many of them had been in the area multiple times and NEVER had a day like that. Part of a pseudo traverse. This was our last mountain before basically running down to the Madison Hut for dinner at 6! Probably one of the more imposing summits looking at it from the distance.

My favorite ...  Sucess!

mountain in NH. Been up both Airline and Lowes. Both excellent and rugged trails. Views to Washington are sweet.

Just cleared from a rain storm. Was pushed down by 70 mph winds above treeline! (Checked winds the next day at Mt. Washington visitor center). Detoured from King ravine over to Starr lake and around backside to summit. Good choice. Excellant mountain with grand views of Washington and Madison. On way back went up to summit Madison also. Great day of ~12 miles / 5,000 ft. vertical. Clear as can be visibility!

Caught brief glimpses of Washington through clouds. Otherwise amused ourselves by holding our hands up and letting the wind smack black flies into our hands.

Hiked all the presidentials on the longest day of the year. A long day starting at 3 am and ending on rte 302 at 6 pm. I recommend this hike as the intro to the New England classic death marches.

Drenchingly humid in the morning, even the mosquitoes were reluctant to move around much. Clouds and fog much of the day, some sunlight in the afternoon, distant thunder. Spooky insect swarms just at the summits.

Seen from the highway: 1 moose, 1 turkey, 1 huge turtle/tortoise plodding along the breakdown lane.

Great views of the cog railway from the top. It produces a rather alarming amount of smoke. On another trip I had the pleasure of being right under the cloud of coal as it rained down over the trail. It's much more pleasant to watch from Mount Adams.

Very surreal summit completely fogged out but bright with filtered sunlight. Not a breath of wind either and I was completely alone. I can see why this is regarded (by some, at least) as one of the mystical places in the world.
