did this and madison in a day. also incorporated washington, jefferson, adams and madison in a long loop starting at pinkham in winter.
Awesome week hike over presedentials
Made the summit in horrible weather. Thick fog & about 150' visibility.
Hiked up from Greyknob Cabin, where I'd spent time with some old friends. A great time!
Camped in the Great Gulf for several nights. It never got above 0F the entire trip. Great views from the top, also freezing!
First time on Adams was while doing the Presidential Traverse. It was a beautiful clear day with a great group of friends.
Up King Ravine, which proved to be a really fun trail. We took sometime to play around in the Subway.
First day of July and we still had sleet at the top.
Sixth, and unfortunately final, peak on a South to North Presidential Traverse, didn't have time to get Madison. Summited around 2:30, tried to make it down Airline and back to the hiker shuttle by 4:20. Needless to say, we didn't make it. Long day.
While we were up, the car froze solid at the trailhead.
Did the long (2.5mi) traverse over from Jefferson in rainy, foggy weather and a visibility of 20 feet or so. We basically followed the route from cairn to cairn until we reached the summit of Adams, which we had all to ourselves. It was a LONG, hard traverse over talus back to Jefferson and down the Caps Ridge!
scary storm (as all tstorms are above timber)....hair still stands on end just thinking about it
Over from Madison on Northern Presi Traverse
Cold and foggy with absolutely no view from the top. My first presidential, hopefully there will be many more.
Very windy day.
Went up Adams via the Airline Route. Outside of the rime ice on last leg, this was a perfect day and a perfect trip. After Adams I did Madison as well.
Great hike. A bit windy but not too cold. The clouds rolled in at dusk and mixed with the sunset, giving us a red orange light show.
hiked as part of the presi traverse.. tough, but its now one of my favs
Went up the Airline trail. I liked it a lot. A bit windy at the top, but nothing too crazy. Great views.
I've climbed Adams a couple times doing the pres traverse (twice in summer, once in winter), never climbed it by itself. Would love to spend more time on this one.
After losing Flanders on Jefferson, I hiked up this one to do a loop looking for him. No visibility and high winds with rain. It stunk. Found my way down the backside and went to Madison Hut and then started backtracking on Gulfside where we finally found each other. Eighth peak on a south to north Presidential Traverse.
