a fun day on arkansas' north ridge with ryan and tony. certainly had a december feeling to it, yet the wind could have been MUCH worse. winter is coming....
Snow from step one to the summit. The lower Northwest Ridge is a march. I ascended the lowest part of shoulder proper directly from tree line rather than circle around to the west and up. Steep, loose, and deep snow. The real fun starts as described- once you enter the higher ridge terrain. The hardest part of the summit ridge (at least with deep snow) is the first 300 yards. Exposed and very heavily corniced when I was there. Pretty crazy to look down on the narrow catwalks. Giant cornices like Mount Krumpet style. After that, it is easy. Good hike to avoid crowds. Easy exits and bypasses of hard sections. Obviously, stay ascenders RIGHT to find easy terrain.

N Ridge
Great winter route. Lots of hard wind slab up there this time of year. With Mike.
I've been wanting to get up this peak for a while and finally did it! I'd prefer a snow climb but I made it intentionally longer by starting out near Mt. Buckskin instead. A super long day but fulfilling!!

Awesome, but short
Needed a short one while up with the in-laws at Breck. The NE ridge was a great option for that, but it was so short I wanted more. I'll have to come back again and do the ridge from Tweto.

Staying on the crest of the ridge at the crux section definitely makes it more interesting. Didn't realize until I looked below later that there was a bypass below around this section,

Ridge Loop
Hiked a loop starting on Mosquito Pass road. Peaks included Tweto, Arkansas, Treasurevault, and Mosquito.
Up along N ridge, then dropped down to NW, passed through a saddle and east back to car.

CMC trip. We climbed Tweto first, then headed over to Arkansas. Two of our group made it to the first false summit before starting back down. We didn't spend too much time on top due to the high winds.

After seeing the pics from Matt Lemkes report we decided to go out and give this a go. Solid line up the North couloir in spectacular snow. Was a little thin near the top for about 20 feet and we moved over to the rock (should have stayed on the snow).

Great snow climb
Started from Fremont Pass and climbed good snow. Traversed south on the N Ridge the rest of way to the summit. Had a great glissade!
North Couloir with Darin, also ran into some friends that were up there skiing. We all shared Peeps and jelly beans for an Easter summit celebration. Second time up this peak.

Ridge from Tweto
For the Mosquito Range, the ridge connecting Tweto and Arkansas was quite a treat! The weather cooperated and our entire team made both summits.
From Tweto via the s.e. ridge. Stayed on the crest at the summit block to make it a little more exciting. There is a decent trail for a good bit of the way up to the false summit of Arkansas.
