Great hike in Indian Peaks. Beautiful wether as well, no wind which is surprising. Long hike from road closure round trip is approx. 13-14 miles. We were expericing some serious postholing on our way back, no snowshoes, long hike, but well worth it!
Tried going for Audubon today, but terrible weather turned us back ~13000 feet (later discovered). We unknowingly walked over the summit of "Naudubon". To add to the annoyingess, we walked down the completely wrong ridge on the way down because we couldn't see anything...which meant our snowshoes we had ditched were on the Main Trail near tree line...now I have to go back up there and get them UGH!
Great day hike with amazing views. Encountered bad thunderstorms.
A short, easy hike. Combined Audubon with Notabon, Paiute, Toll, and Pawnee for a nice loop, but the visibility was low for much of the day. Will have to return for the views!
A nice, easy hike up and down the mountain. The views from the summit were amazing. I got to see my objective for the following day: Longs Peak.
This was my 6th or so 13er and my wife's first. We did it via the Mt Audubon Trail with a few hundred other people.
Wife and I took the standard route on a nice, but very very windy Sunday morning. Solitude at the summit, a rare treat!
Met Olivia at Ward, where we parked her car. Hiked up past Mitchell Lake and onto Audubon's thin, southeast ridge. There were 6 or 8 others on the summit before us. We then traversed the ridge over to the much less popular Paiute Peak. Great weather all day, with great views of Longs Peak and the Indian Peaks Wilderness.
Quick to the top - along with 100 or so other people - but then down the south face towards east end of Blue Lake.
Standard route up Audubon and ridge traverse to Paiute with a great class 3 decent to Blue Lake. A fantastic loop on the perfect day!! Soloed.
Climbed the standard route to Audubon, then took the ridge to Paiute and back.
Hiked the standard route in 2007. first to summit for the day and then a blizzard blew in truning 10s of people away.
A group of us climbed Audubon as "break" from our mountain bike trip. Spent some time in the Estes area biking before heading out to Fruita. Great trip and I really enjoyed this climb and the views.
until I found my slides from 1975 and scanned them in!
Nice high point view and super fun ridge to Pauite.
Scrambled up the NE ridge (class 3), and down the Audubon trail. Very windy near the summit.
Climbed with Shanahan96 and Jamie Nellis via the trail with a stop on "Notabon". We then continued on to Paiute. Fierce winds all morning had this one feeling more like early November!
enjoyed the change of having a nice trail/walkup this weekend. the flippin' wind was out in full force and we weren't glad to see it!
