Quick and easy hike up from Mitchell Lake TH. Fantastic views, but it was a bit smoky from all the CO wildfires. Beautiful day, regardless, though.
Great hike! From the top you have great views of Rocky Mountain National Park to the north. This was my first 13er.
Great hike with lovely views. Started from Brainard Lake and followed the trailhead signs to get there. The first half of the hike was a bit windy and chilly, but as soon as the summit was reached, puffy clouds came in and the wind calmed down. Path was easy to follow and cairns above tree line during rock scramble were helpful in staying on track. Made use of the wind shelters above tree line to escape the cold wind. There were still a few wildflowers on the trail and saw many pika. Indian Peaks Wilderness area is a gem and so close to home! Well worth the trip f you live on the Front Range.
This provided an excellent day of 3rd class scrambling close to the Front Range: SE ridge Audubon > Paiute Peak > Mt Toll.
This time I climbed Mt. Audubon via the main trail from Lake Mitchell Parking Area.
This was my first climb above 13,000 feet. I was 15 years old and didn't have a clue what I was doing, but I made it to top. I started from Brainard Lake using dead reckoning navigation. Hiked through the pine forest and straight toward the peak. I eventually found the trail, but just kept on my straight course. I wore blue jeans and tennis shoes. After climbing Audubon, I was hooked and yearned to climb as much as possible.
Easy 13er with a great trail. Pretty much no way to get lost.
nice off trail climb along with Paiute
Traverse to Pauite
Lots of wildflowers, pikas, and marmots.
Nice summit hike from the Brainard Lake area. This particular day was extremely windy, so it wasn't exactly ideal conditions. Still a beautiful trek tho.
w/ G. Neely, E. Neely, C. Treiber, and L. Novais; Blitzed up and down the last section with Gabe to beat the storms. Fun day in the sun with great friends.
The 3rd class is easy and short. The ridge is long and fun. Gaining the ridge was a talus scramble. I went around Mitchell Lake to the left, wandered through the forest to gain the white rubble field, then angled right to reach the lower/mid shoulder of the ridge. Loose, but doable.
Gorgeous fall hike and a lovely run in with a Newf!
Audubon to Paiute to Toll traverse
Hiked up from Brainard Lake. Started around 6:00am and summited about 9:00am and after being knocked down twice by wind on the descent to the saddle with Paiute I decided to bail on any further peaks for the day and was back home around 1:30pm. First Indian Peak summit since moving to Westminster from Colorado Springs back in October. Amazing place - I will be back for more!
Took the day off work and enjoyed climbing with rkymtn for our 9th wedding anniversary. Amazing views.
Had just arrived in Colorado the day before, so proud to make it over 13,000 feet on the first day. A good conditioner. Beautiful area.
