Splitboard descent  Sucess!

Fun day out with Carson. Parked along the Clan Alpine Road, hiked (with skis on pack) up into Starr Canyon, and onto the undulating ridge on the south side of the canyon. Started skinning at about 6900 feet, couple of up/downs to negotiate, eventually switched to booting once it got too wind-blown and steep. Very windy on the summit ridge. Dropped onto the East Face from the summit, so-so snow quality for riding but such an epic scene. Cruised down well into Starr Canyon until the snow and brush got too much, booted back up onto the ridge to ride down the final few hundred feet of snow, then 2 mile hike back to the car. 12 miles, 6000 feet of gain, 8.5 hours total.

From Cherry Valley  Sucess!

Beautiful mountain range and great day for a hike. Spotted a couple bands of mustangs near the summit area.

Beautiful country  Sucess!

Ken Jones and I found the toughest part to be the drive in and out of the area. The hike itself was fairly simple and straightforward. The views from the summit were exceptional and we spotted several wild horses and one nice deer.
