We climbed on a chilly cloudy day. The trail was quite easy as far as 14ers go.

There really wasn't a trail here to speak of as Roach refers to, but a memorable hike for sure. This was a slogfest. Great views of the gulch on the way up though. A very unique summit. Trip report to come

Route Climbed: West Slopes Date Climbed: 18 Jun 2005  Sucess!

The route was pretty much snow free except for a few small patches. Took me about 2 & 1/4 to get up to the summit under blue skies.

Route Climbed: Ascent: East ridge (via Oxford), Descent, standard route (Missouri Gulch) Date Climbed: May 30, 2005  Sucess!

Thunderstorms narrowly missed the summit as I climbed the ridge from Oxford. Winds at least 50mph. Painful wind-driven graupel. Scary. Fled down Missouri Gulch in snow and then rain and caught a ride back to my car at Pine Creek with some sight-seers. Thanks guys!!! Didn't see another soul all day.

Man, what a beautiful summit.

Route Climbed: Standard- Missouri Gulch Date Climbed: May 28, 2005  Sucess!

Summited Belford/Oxford together. Initiated my Kansas cousin with 14ers on this one, as well as myself for starting back up the summer season of hiking! Snowshoes are not needed for this one, just stamina and leg power!:-) ...oh, and we nicknamed this hike the "long SLOG!"

Route Climbed: Standard Date Climbed: 5/29/05  Sucess!

Summited, along with Oxford, with good friend and fellow SPer, Alan. Our original plan was to do Missouri, but there was too much snow at it's base and we did not have crampons or axes. Dodged storms all day long.

Route Climbed: All 3 in one day - Missouri Gulch Date Climbed: 7/2003  Sucess!

Camped at Missouri Gulch Trail and started off in the rain. I had to catch some zzzz's during early morning rain on the trail to Missouri. I first ascended Missouri and then headed up the basin to the saddle between Oxford and Belford. I was beat and a storm was brewing but another dumbass motivated me to go for the summit of Oxford first. The storm receded and I was on the summit of Belford celebrating three in a day. I made it back to camp with some sore knees, but it wasn't too bad. 14 1/2 miles and 7400 feet of elevation gain in 9 hours. Not too bad?

Route Climbed: NW Ridge Date Climbed: June 19, 1989  Sucess!

Climbed both Belford and Oxford from Missouri Gulch camp. On return we left the NW ridge and glissaded down the NW couloir. It wasn't the best glissade I've had, due to the snow being slanted from left to right, not straight down the fall-line. Maybe earlier in the year this would be filled with snow?

Route Climbed: Missouri Basin Date Climbed: August 12, 2004  Sucess!

Had a great hike summiting both Mt. Oxford and Mt. Belford on a beautiful sunny day. The views to the south from both peaks and the airy saddle between them is awesome, especially the views of Mt. Harvard, Iowa Peak , Emerald Peak and Missouri Mountain.

Hiked up the 2.5 miles to the foot of Belford to camp overnight. The next morning, we ascended Belford and then did the traverse to Oxford. Very nice views from the top of both peaks.

Route Climbed: Missouri to Belford to Oxford Date Climbed: September 11, 2004  Sucess!

Climbed all three in 9 hours. Left the Elkhead Pass trail too early, so missed the maintained trail up to Missouri's ridge. Hiking up Missouri's grass slopes cost me extra effort, and probably an extra 100 feet of elevation gain. Hiked to Elkhead Pass after descending Missouri. Extra distance was worth not having to go up Belfords steep west shoulder. To and from Oxford was easy. Descent of Belford to trailhead was relentless, but quick. Great trails, beautiful weather.

Route Climbed: west ridge, Missouri Gulch Date Climbed: August 1993  Sucess!

Climbed with Ron, Ryan, and Kristen. Did Oxford as well. Three years later, climbed Belford again, this time on its southwest slopes, after doing Missouri Mtn. We were blessed with good weather both times.
