Western Slopes in winter
Climbed solo on the same day that some kid committed suicide on Guanella Pass Road that leads up to the peak. Anyone ever read about this? Being a one way road, we waited three hours for them to clear the crime scene.

Sawtooth Ridge
The exposure really is not great and none of the scrambling was difficult. More hike than scramble but definitely an enjoyable trip.
A hike up from Guanella Pass then across the Sawtooth to Mount Evans! Awesome, and I had several minutes alone on Mount Bierstadt to take it all in!!

Sawtooth
Beautiful day in the mountains. Did the Sawtooth Ridge in both directions. Was a very fun climb. Took rope but absolutely no need for a rope on this route. Class III, fun scramble

you can climb a 14er after 5PM?
Started the hike up Bierstadt at 5:28PM. Topped out at 7:28. Treated to beautiful sunset. Loved it!

A 3hr ascent
This was the first peak in our long 12hr day that included descending the northwest ridge, over the Sawtooth's 'gendarme' and up thru the gully notch, around mt Spalding to mt Evans. Nice boardwalk in the lower wetlands or shall we say mudlands. Partly cloudy with a little wind but an excellent day hike.

Once per season?
2nd time bagging Bierstadt, first time was February. Guess I have to go back this summer and fall? All snow and ice avoidable. Great day for hiking, 3 hours up and then headed to Evans via Sawtooth. Clouds stuck around the summit but wasn't too bad with sporadic wind gusts. Saw about 10 others at the summit.

1st 14er!
This was my first 14er. Conditions on the summit were below freezing with high winds. We got snowed on occasionally throughout the day, but never enough to warrant turning back.

Fun Off Season PeakNice high peak for winter days when other routes are sketch. East ridge is my favorite route on this peak. Plan to continue revisiting this peak.
