Beautiful, busy hike  Sucess!

My wife and I's first fourteener. Lots of people on the trail from Guanella Pass, but nothing could have been better than the beautiful, cloudless day we were able to enjoy.

We started around 6:45 (probably should have started earlier to avoid contributing to the large crowd). Made it to the summit and back in about 4.5 hours, including a decent hangout at the top to enjoy the view.

Skin up, ski down, life is good  Sucess!

With Matt C. Great day. Skinned from Lower parking area. 3.5 hours to summit. 30 minutes to descend. Thick, heavy snow. Huge cornice on summit. Light wind except on summit ridge, when it was ~25mph.

10/26/14 overnight  Sucess!

Parked at the TH on Saturday evening and hiked 1.5 miles up Bierstadt trail and pitched my tent. Summited Bierstadt the next morning at 8:35am the next morning before the crowd showed up. This was my first 14er and it was a very windy and cold summit.

Easy day  Sucess!

Two hours and forty five minutes up, one hour and forty five minutes down. I hope the trio of chilled girls from Kansas got off the top before the rain and sleet came in.

Guanella Pass TH  Sucess!

#1 8-11-14 Interesting early approach thru the "bogs." Chilly on top. We were not the only ones who decided to try this 14er on for size... #2 5-25-15 Mostly snowshoes all the way up and down. Beautiful summit conditions. Die Gesellschaft war absolut ausgezeichnet.

West Ridge  Sucess!

Took a newbie up her first 14er on Bierstadt. She had a great time. I got a laugh out of the 'conga-line' of what had to be ~400 people! But, it was a Sunday, so expected.
Freaking cold atop!!

One last 14er before the trip ends  Sucess!

This was the last one we had time for before a wonderful trip to Colorado came to an end. I will be back.

Carnival  Sucess!

Used to being the only one on a mountain, having hundreds sharing the trail was disconcerting. And I thought climbing it during the week would bring fewer visitors!

So. I'm a 1er.  Sucess!

A first. I am from Ohio, have lived in Denver, South, for about a year. Girlfriend and I decided to begin after much encouragement from her. We went and made it up and back. Pretty good accomplishment, for me. Out of shape within reason and have smoked a pack-a-day since turning 20 y.o. Definitely reconsidering the wicked habit. As known, Mt. Bierstadt is very popular and for very good reasons. Beautiful. The hike down and out was the roughest for me, especially the last bit with the wooden bridges across the swamp-marsh. I was just done and ready to be not walking anymore. I look forward to the next time.

Bierstadt Trail  Sucess!

Meetup.com Independence Day hike. This was my 5th time on Bierstadt. The place was a madhouse, as expected. Full parking lots and tons of hikers, but that's all right. The weather was good, a little windy at times, but sunny. There were a few slower hikers in the group, and one turned back before the summit. This was the 1st 14er of 3 in our group.

A beautiful morning.  Sucess!

Woke up around 4am and made it to Evans trailhead around 6am. Met a hiker at the lot and we decided to hike together. We hit the trail at 6:30am, made it through the swampy areas easily and over the still frozen snow due to our early start. It was slow going since this was my 2nd 14er and it was her first. We made the summit at 9:45am and got back to the car at noon before a storm rolled our way. Great day!

Postholing builds character

Soft snow over marshes made for some serious postholing even with snowshoes on. Forced to retreat 250ft from summit due to lightning...
