Hot  Sucess!

There was a bit of a heat wave, and the sun was intense. 5 hours RT for three lowlanders. The mountain was pretty busy for a mid-week climb.

Standard Route  Sucess!

Beautiful day - first Colorado 14er, no altitude problems, gorgeous weather even though it was so humid we couldn't light a fire the night before. Summit was pretty crowded even though it was a Tuesday. Met some guys who were trying to eat donuts on top of every 14er.

Beautiful day, and then...  Sucess!

My plans to attempt the sawtooth to Evans were thwarted by a storm over Evans. As I was descending an intense storm arose with a lot of people still on the mountain. It was a long, wet hike back with a steady barrage of lightning.

An adventure  Sucess!

After summiting, crossed the sawtooth and over to Evans. I ran out of food, got rained on, and was tired.

Good first 14er  Sucess!

Quick climb. Not from Colorado so I was pleased when I didn't have any problems with the altitude. Passed 10 other groups going up. It looked like other people were struggling with the altitude a little bit more.

Bierstadt - Sawtooth - Evans  Sucess!

My first 14er! From Guanella Pass to the Bierstadt summit, then over Sawtooth ridge to Mount Evans and then dropped down into the willows to return to the car. A very long day.

South Ridge  Sucess!

Hiked the South Ridge from Scott Gomer Creek Trailhead. To the best of my knowledge, nobody else summited via that route that day (and it was a Saturday). Got great shots of a mountain goat near the top.

First 14er  Sucess!

Hindsight is 20/20, and I was in idiot. I had moved to CO from TX a few weeks earlier and I was overly excited about the mountains. I set out this day with little more than a light jacket and water. I was wearing a pair of 3-4 year old New Balance running shoes with zero traction. When I reached the summit, it was whiteout and the snow began to blanket the ground as I descended. I made it in one piece.

West side  Sucess!

Took my girlfriend at the time up for her first 14er. Paid dearly for it.

winter  Sucess!

Winter ascent from below Guanella Pass, wasn't plowed so that added another 3-4 km to the thing. Fun day, did it in 8 hours total coming from Iowa the day before (yay not acclimating). The summit had insane winds on it so we only spent about 1 minute on top, would love to do the sawtooth someday.
