Climbed the traditional route. Nice easy climb. I like it when the talus and scree are stable. This was my 9th 12er so I finally am done! I was happy to be able to do it with another climber that finished his 12ers and it was our birthday weekends. It doesn't get much better than that!
Mike, Curt and I did the first ascent of the North Face - Grand Chockstone Route as reported in the A.A.J. in 1983. We descended the northeast ridge (class 4) back to our camp at the base after a biv on the summit ridge.

South Ridge
I climbed Mount Breitenbach from Pete Creek. I underestimated how much water there would be in the canyon at the time. The waterfalls were slippery and I had to cross several unstable snow bridges higher on the mountain. Had perfect weather and enjoyed climbing the talus on this route. Now I understand why the mountain is easier to climb later in the season.

South Ridge
Climbed with John (Splattski) on a beautiful St. Patties day. My dog also made to the top - his first idaho 12'er.
Great weather, sunny, clear, no wind, smoke died down from August fires. Great class 2 route, I recommend it to anyone who visits this range.

Great day
Pretty uneventful hike up Pete Creek. Couldn't get my Subaru up to the trailhead (at least via Cedar Creek Rd.) so I had to do a bit of hiking across the sagebrush to the canyon. The climb is on firm rock. The upper reaches are in fact a pretty barren wasteland of rock. I would rate this as a Class 2 hike, in fact in the Sierra it would probably be class 1. I also did not find the summit ridge to be particularly exposed. It is certainly not a knife edge. The views from the top were great. Summit register entries date back to 1978.

Breitenbach
Climbed via Pete Creek, it was a great day, perfect weather. There was still a fair amount of snow in the canyon, but the ridges were clear. First entry in the summit register since 8/05. While we were on the summit, a bighorn sheep ewe wandered to within 20 feet of us and hung out for a few minutes before strolling away. We saw here again later watching us from the southwest ridge while we were glissading down a few of the snow-banks near the top of the canyon. Here’s a write up and some photos.

Climbed this from Jones Creek. It was a long day on a great peak. Actually saw 4 other people that day scrambling around here. Pretty crowded for the Lost Rivers : )
Route Climbed: South Ridge Date Climbed: August 30, 2003
Climbed as my fifth peak of the nine summits of Idaho record. It was hot and the false summit threw me off a little. Was finally able to make it after 2 other attempts via different routes that failed for lack of time.
Great climb! Made the traverse to Lost River after this to avoid bushwhacking back out.
