Bross seemed the easiest peak of the day. I was very tired and a storm was coming in so we hustled on the trail from Lincoln and summited. Weather was clear when we arrived. High winds. My best friend and I did our usual type trip from Oklahoma. Drive all night, sleep a couple of hours, go for the summit. We had never done more than one 14er on any trip but we decided to give this a whirl. Doing Democrat was the most difficult, we had not time to adjust to the altitude difference from Oklahoma to Colorado so we both felt queezy. Arriving at the summit was great! Completed Cameron, Linclon and Bross glissaded down the face of Bross. Great way to finish. Easy descent. All of these four peaks were done before these were closed recently.
This was my 6th climb of Bross. This day was from Kite Lake and combined with Lincoln & Democrat.
This was my first time climbing Bross. This climb was combined with Lincoln. Most of my climbs of the Lincoln, Democrat & Bross group were from Kite Lake. A couple of the climbs were from the east.
Started at Kite Lake, hiked up to Democrat, traversed over the Cameron, then Lincoln and finally Bross before coming down the western side of Bross back to Kite Lake. If you miss the trail coming down Bross it is a scree field that isn't much fun to come down. Even my Golden Retriever didn't care for that. Otherwise it was a great day.
Nice hike before summiting Lincoln and Democrat.
Mount Bross. 4,321 m (14,177 ft).
A great hike for both me and my dog. However, the descent down bross was a sub-par escapade
My last of the four on this day. I was very tired, but it was an easy climb from Lincoln to Bross. Descended the scree to the south-west back to Kite Lake.
pulled out all four on this trip starting from the western face of democrat.
WORST SUMMIT EVER!!! You could land a plane or two on top. The hike back to Kite Lake on the scree sucked!
Nice hike. 4 hours 45 minutes round-trip for Lincoln, Cameron, Democrat, and Bross. Climbed with a very nice fellow, Steve Holden, who I met at the TH.
Enjoyed all the mining ruins at 14,000 ft. Crazy miners. Is it true you can 4x4 up this mountain? Didn't see any vehicles when I was there.
Last of the 4 for the day. What an awesome ridge! Lots of people descending Bross together made me go further south to the southern most descent trail. This paid off, as we watched dozens of people send rock down on each other, "ROCK," descending the main descent couloir.
My first 14'er excursion -- hiked the "Decalibron" route to knock off three ranked 14'ers plus Cameron.
Good wintertime snow conditions. Very cold, windy, and cloudy. Not much to see from the summit. Still a fun day outside.
Hey, a 14ner is still a 14ner. Reminds me about the reply to the question concerning the quality of a particular "love" encounter....."The worst I ever had was GREAT"!
Easy walk up from Kite Lake; also did Lincoln & Democrat.
Ended loop with Bross. The descent back to Kite Lake sure could use some CFI Intervention. Sending them a donation soon!
Already had Democrat. Finished the loop.
did this one back when i was 12 or so
With 12 year old and 10 year old. Did Lincoln, Cameron, and Bross. According to the Gerry Roach book, there was suppose to be a trail back down through the Cameron Amphitheatre. Never really did find it.
