Maybe the rock in Glacier isn't so bad after all
6/6/17 w/Ryan Stadheim and Thaddeus Timbrooks
Winter conditions up top - super fun Ridge!
We were going to bike up going to the sun road as it was closed to vehicles, but after we'd biked 4 miles up the road, it was closed even to bikes for construction, so we turned around, went to a visitor center to check out some climbing books, saw this hike, and ended up doing it. A bit killer on the knees going down, but those goats sure love to lick up your pee
Took a group of eight up on a beautiful sunny day. Fun ridge. Trip down took some extra time as we were distracted by a ton of ripe huckleberries lining the trail. Took a refreshing dip in McDonald lake afterwards.
A fun ridge above the lookout!
2011 - w/ Tyler Haasch via Knife Ridge route in winter conditions.
This was a doosey
decided last minute to try for the summit, ended up turning around about an hour before sun down.
A fun last 1000ft despite the fog and cold. Climbed with my husband and several friends including GNPgumpy.
This was a very foggy and chilly October day. There were times of no visibility but an occasional break in the fog gave us some amazing views.
Also hiked to the lookout 9/25/11 with Steve and Robin.
2010 Oct 7 SW Ridge route with Joe & James. Got stopped at the head wall.
2010 Oct 9 SW Ridge route with Derek Ferecho and his friends. No problems this time except for the heavy fog.
With Dave in the snow, first hike of the year.
2004 with April, John, Rhonda and Ronnie
2001 with Bud and Buck
Climbed many times, all seasons. Never skiied it to Snyder
Basin, but plan to.
Don't forget the winter ice climbs in the ampitheater on the north side of Brown, just above Lower Snyder Lake.
Climbed a few times. Skied south face from summit to Snyder Lake.
i came extremely close to the summit--a wonderful climb on one of my favorite mountains in glacier park, despite falling short. upon discussing my route with a veteran gnp climber i discovered exactly where i went wrong (aside from wearing lousy boots that gave me blood blisters!). it was a beautiful day during a wonderful summer, and i had the mountain entirely to myself. can't wait to give it another shot!
A long approach to a great view!
MY FIRST GNP SUMMIT. CLIMBED WITH JACK KLOVSTAD
6/26/97 EARLY SEASON CLIMB WITH VERN INGRAHAM WHO REALLY ENJOYED GLISSADING BACK DOWN TOWARD THE LOOKOUT TOWER
8/13/11 enjoyable solo trip after tough climb on Pk 8716 the 11th (picked a quart of hucks on the return)
Climbed alone and had the mountain all to myself which i think is rare in GNP, had a blast, but the knees would think otherwise. Solid day.
Climbed with my Dad. This was a long hike but it certainly revealed spectacular views on the park. Fortunately we managed to avoid the grizzlies and come back in one piece.
