Wanted an easy centennial today - and I got it! I was scared off by the No Parking signs by the Sweet Home Mine, so I parked a bit further up. That meant that I spent a half-hour trying to find an nice way through the willows (dog on leash through that stuff is no fun). Up Loveland to Buckskin (both summits).
Short hike- took more time to drive there from DIA than it took to get up and back down. Beautiful weather, but some wind. I didn't see anyone on my side of Kite Lake despite a full lot there.
Easy day out. Winds were insane. Decided to bail on Tweto and Co. Great glissade though!!
I climbed with a group of "usual suspects" that included Aaron and Ellen. Fun scrambling, as I recall.
I nice hike up with the traverse over to Loveland.
hiked up in the afternoon after walking up Horseshoe and Sheridan earlier in the morning
Climbed/skied Buckskin many, many times from my house in Mosquito Gulch. Never a bad day out.
Low clouds and snow, so visibility wasn't that great. I seemed to have gone across a ridge and hit both summits ????
via slopes from Kite Lake
Wife, dog and I from Loveland.
I climbed Loveland Mountain first and then over to Buckskin. My descent was closer to Kite Lake than where I started the hike. It was really windy that day. Sometimes I had to stop and brace myself and not move. If I kept on walking I didn't know where my foot would come down!
London to Loveland, peak #6. Finished up on Loveland Mountain. Almost 6 continuous miles above 13000'!
easier winter climb, wove in-and-out on north slopes on bare scree patches.
Climbed with Ben L. in near whiteout conditions, lots of snow and wind. Climbed with Mt. Loveland.
The ridge was holding alot of fresh snow. A hazy white out above about 13,300ft - little wind but some fresh snow. I couldn't see more than 10 feet away on the stormy summit. I wish I could have seen the views from up top. Nevertheless, another solo success.
Lots of snow!
Fun, short outing away from the masses.
Nice snow climb to the saddle with Loveland Mtn
Nice short hike. Great to leave the hordes headed for the Decalibron. Had it to myself.
In November we encountered 6-8 inches of new snow. Climbed to the summit of Loveland via the Buckskin TH which is about 1.5 miles before Kite Lake.
We did a loop out of it and climbed up the eastern slopes and down the western side. Nice views of all the people on Democrat etc. We saw no one all day on Buckskin - just how we like it. Nice mountain!
