3rd of 4 peaks today. Lunch break on top, then mosey on
Baden-Powell, Ross, Burnham and Throop out of Dawson...
from Baden-Powell, before Throop.
Heather and I parked below Windy Gap at 7am and then hiked up Baden-Powell, Burnham, Throop, Hawkins, Middle Hawkins, and Islip. We got back to the car at 2pm and then drove around hiking up Akawie, Winston, and Lewis. The next day we did both summits of Twin Peaks as well as Waterman.
Climbed with Baden-Powell and Throop Peak. Beautiful weather, bit on the warm side!
Part of nice traverse beginning at Baden-Powell ending at road below Windy Gap.
On a bump-tagging expedition from Vincent Gap to Islip.
out and back from islip saddle to baden-powell. 17 miles rt with 3800' gain. baden-powell, burnham, throop, and hawkins.
#4 on Islip Saddle to Vincent Gap 5-peak traverse.
Tagged Burnham after Baden-Powell via Vincent Gap. Broke trail in 6-12" of gooey super wet snow with 35mph winds and plenty of sunshine. Beautiful day to see downtown LA, Catalina, Channel Is, and San Clemente from 9K'!
Hiked up from Dawson Saddle and also hiked over to Mount Hawkins. Not much of a view on Burnham
From MM 66.38 to Mt. Islip, Mt. Hawkins, Throop Peak, Mt. Burnham, Mt. Baden-Powell and back. Met Dan Simpson on the way to the summit, creator of a great San Gabriel Mountain hiking webpage. Thanks Dan!
Five peak day from Dawson Saddle to Baden Powell to Hawkins. The PCT from Baden Powell to Hawkins is one of the best in the San Gabriels.
Hiked up Burnham as part of a 5 peak ridge traverse.
Hiked from Dawson Saddle. This is a small point on the ridge between Baden-Powell and Throop.
I don't know how this is really a mountain, but it is, so bagged it on the way back to Dawson from Baden-Powell.
Second of my 3-Niner romp from Dawson Saddle. Very pleasant hike through forest, but the summit was the most disappointing of the three. Also tacked on Mount Lewis for a 4 HPS day.
Got blasted by wind all the way from Baden-Powell. Continued on to Throop and Lewis.
Went with my brother in the late eighties over Throop and then up to Burnham and then over to Baden-Powell. A fine hike with great views the whole day. I hope one day Angeles Crest is repaired and re-opened.
