Mount Cardwell is just a rocky field

It is hundreds feet lower than the summits of the main spine of Western Uintas (in the background - Long, Watson, Notch Mountain), but it is a county highpoint, complete with a name and a plaque. The plaque is at the summit at N40°39.769' W110°54.663' which actually is not the true highpoint of the county ... but the highest summit in it nonetheless. The true highpoint is a bit closer to the highway, on a slope connecting Cardwell with Murdock.

You are amazing! How long has that plaque been there? I was there in '03 and must have missed it. =(

This picture was taken June 18th, 2003. Maybe the GPS helped to home in on that thing? The so-called mountain is wide and flat and it just might be tempting to turn around short of the "official" spot. But the spot was also marked by a pretty large cairn, visible from a few hundred ft distance for sure.

BTW I have a picture with a highpoint plaque on Kings too, that one didn't last long :)
