Bagged this summit as summit number 4/10 in a contest put on by Sahaptin Outfitters out of Cle Elum. The drive from 90 felt like it took forever- it would be shorter if they'd just repair some of the roads back there. This trail is single track friendly and sees a lot of use; we met a trio of super friendly single trackers on our way down. There are a LOT of blowdowns on this trail; it could use some real help- and a bunch of them will need a chainsaw to remove. We hit just the smallest amount of snow just below the final trail junction. The views were outstanding. There is a memorial cemented to the summit that may or may not be legally placed. Even though the hike was lengthy, it went by real quick as the middle portion of the hike is just a ridge run. Also, I see no reason why a FS permit is required here. There isn't even a parking lot- it's just a pullout that can accommodate about two cars, nothing more. Good times.
