out and back  Sucess!

I wanted to finish the 46ers here via the trap dike but the weather was too iffy to do the long day I had planned or the trap dike so I settled for a quick out and back via Lake Arnold. Three hours and ten minutes to the top. Excellent views.

Trap Dike  Sucess!

An unparalleled experience on trap dike, and amazing views from the summit. The approach from flowed lands wasn’t anything to write home over until reaching Lake Colden.

Rainy traverse  Sucess!

Hiked over the top of Mt Colden from Lake Arnold. Rain started pouring down when I neared the top, so I just went straight over and headed down to Lake Colden and Avalanche Lake when the weather cleared. Really great little hike.

Big Mountain Loop  Sucess!

Combined this mountain with Wright, Algonquin, and Iroquois. Epic day. Started at Lake Colden and traversed to the Loj. Looks like they are doing lots of maintenance up there.

Solo Hike on Busy Day  Sucess!

Solo hike from the Meadows trail head. Made great time on the loop to Colden Summit and back through Avalanche Pass. Never seen so many cars parked to access High Peaks from ADK Lodge.

Different Loop Hike  Sucess!

I needed to bag Iroquois, so I decided to make a loop hike out of it. I started from the Loj, up Algonquin to Iroquois. Then down to Lake Colden and up the Mt Colden trail to the summit. Then returned going past Lake Arnold and back to the Loj. Nice loop, challenging!

From bush whack from hell to summit of heaven  Sucess!

Party of four, started climbing then belated into the trap dike. Summited after free soloing a section then bush whacked to the summit. Got our asses beat by the rough (yet absolutely unbelievably beautiful and hard core) terrain. View from the top was well worth it. Especially from the view from the ridge to the east of it. Well worth the exhaustion. 14.5 miles over 14 hours. Just he break from society I needed. Recommended if your serious about getting your ass beat.

Southside from the Flowed Lands  Sucess!

Hiked in from the Loj early morning and set up camp by 1:30 at the south side tent sites of Lake Colden. After lunch, made a quick ru up the South side of Colden. Steep trail with a little ice, the pouring rain and cold summit temps made it tough. But on the way down, about 11 vertical feet from the summit, the sun broke for a few minutes blessing us with a perfect view of the flowed lands and Lake Colden in the valley. Not bad for the 1st of 46.

Awesome views  Sucess!

Backpacked in from the Adirondack Loj on April 5th and spent the night at Lake Arnold. The Lake Arnold campsite was well above 3500' and very cold this time of the year. We awoke at 8:30am and summited nearby Mount Colden 4715' from Lake Arnold. The weather was clear and sunny, but still cold enough to require winter clothing and snowshoes. We arrived at the summit around 10:30am after climbing several false peaks. We headed back down the trail to Lake Arnold, melted snow for water, and packed up our tent and other gear. We made the 6 miles trek back down from Lake Arnold to the Loj with 45 lbs. of gear on each of our backs. The trip was quite the experience! Round trip we hiked over 16 miles.

Nice climb  Sucess!

Free soloed the Trap Dike and slabs to the top. No view, almost white out conditions. It snowed all day and there was a consistent 30 mph wind.

Trap Dike  Sucess!

Great hike and the Trap Dike pretty straightforward if you do your research. Next time I will have to go down the slide on the other side.

Via Trap Dike  Sucess!

By far, the greatest way to climb this mountain. Done it twice and would do it a third if I get the chance again!
