Great Loop Hike
A loop hike from South Meadows TH to summit, down via Lake Colden/Avalanche Lake. Fall colors were nice, Avalanche Lake is one of the most breathtaking spots in the High Peaks.

Winter Fun
Winter camping in the daks. Stayed at a lean to on lake Colden. Ascent was simple, but nice weather turned bad towards the summit, and the views were obstructed.

Trad Dike in the rain!
This was a tough hike.It was pouring rain,so the dike was really floeing hard.I was debating on climbing it,but friends from NYC said lets go for it.Lets just say that I made my peace with God that day.The only route was straight through the crashing cold water. At times I though that I was gonna bite the big one,but all worked out.We pushed our way up and then exited too late ending up bushwhacking to the summit. This was probably the best adventure that I've done yet.It really made me feel alive....Jim Wallace

Via Trap Dike in Winter
Climbed Mount Colden a couple of times via the Trap Dike in Winter.
Hiked via Avalanche Pass, Colden summit, Lake Arnold to Marcy Dam loop. Great day even though the entire summit was boxed in with a heavy mist that prevented us from getting any real great views. A rainy day in the 'daks is better than a sunny day at work and I guess we'll just have to do it again in nicer weather...

Beautiful day
Barely a cloud in the sky, not windy, hard packed snow and ice, via Lake Colden over to Lake Arnold.

Awesome
Did a night time free solo of the trap dike in winter with my partner Jaymie. It was a blast.
I would recommend the Trap Dike Route. Totally doable for novice hikers. Just be careful where you exit the route.

Mount Colden
Climbed via the Avalanche Pass Trail from the Adirondack Loj. A Great hike that traversed some of the High Peak's most rugged and spectacular terrain. Was suprisingly windy at the summit.
4 feet of snow with the sun forming nice corn on top. Beautiful sunny day, not a cloud in the sky. Skied down and back out via Lake Colden and Avalanche Pass.

Gale Force Winds!
Holy Smokes! Didn't stay on the summit long! A fast moving storm greeted us at the summit. Crawled along on hands and knees. If not for a little spruce I hung onto during one gust, I might not be typing this right now!!! Made it down safely. WooHOOO. Good practice for Denali! I'm guessing 60+mph winds.

Brutal WindI climbed this mountain with my pal Tony's wife, Chris. The wind was brutal. The arctic conditions of the Adirondacks never cease to amaze me.
