Second ascent, solo via Frenchman Creek with PT 13374 and Harvard. Snow covered boulders below the "rabbits" were a bit tedious, but otherwise not a bad tour of the Frenchman Creek drainage on a nice fall day.

A heap
A never ending heap of talus best hiked in firm snow. Took 2 tries to summit out of the sheer monotony of the long east ridge.

Alone on Columbia
I went up Columbia after summitting Harvard and Princeton the two previous days and made it to the summit in 3 hrs & 40 min from N. Cottonwood, the weather turned cloudy, chilly and blustery as I hit the summit ridge. I never saw anyone else on Columbia that day. The descent was very fast on the steep slopes.

Last Sawatch 14er
This was my last 14er to climb in the Sawatch. It was a nice, long hike which was worth while.

Ass Kicker
I did Columbia with Harvard. The snow, scree, and talus was an ass kicker. Start early if you're going to do both. I did it in 9 1/2 hours, which is a little faster than usual.

SW Couloir/Ridge combo
Climbed as part of a 14ers.com winter gathering alongside Stephanie and Fletch and about 15+ other people. EXCEPTIONALLY windy on the ridge but calm on the summit. Saw a herd of elk of maybe 40-50 animals crossing drainages to the east.
This was a very enjoyable day with great people!!

2nd time up Columbia in calendar winter. 1st time got to summit right at sunrise, 2nd time with a bunch of 14ers.com people. Good day despite the winds.

Harvard - Columbia
Climbed Mount Harvard and Mount Columbia from North Cottonwood Trailhead after a beautiful camp at 11,440 feet in Horn Fork Basin. This was my second ascent of Mount Columbia. My first ascent was in September of 2004 during/after a snow storm.

Harvard to Columbia
Threaded the needle during a succession of violent thunderstorms. Took the low traverse which was miserably loose, as was the descent to the main trail. Would be a better snow climb.
Very windy day. Great route for solitude--no one else (and no trail) on this side of the mountain. Herd of mountain goats above treeline, right on the ridge. Pay attention on the way down, it's easy to end up off-route.

Steep climb up scree slope, very high winds on ridges, another safe and successful 14'er, so overall a great day.

Traverse
Had a fun hike up Harvard > Columbia. Apparently spending 5 weeks in Phoenix (near sea level) and then driving up to the mountains and immediately climbing two 14ers is not proper acclimatization. In the end it made the trip a bit more challenging, which was great!
