When the light come on in the city!  Sucess!

Came up here a number of times when I lived in the city, but nighttime was my favorite.

Ran up  Sucess!

Used to live in Noe Valley, SF, so running up Mt. Davidson and Twin Peaks was a good workout.

2nd Time's a charm  Sucess!

Believe or not, this hill took me two attempts to summit. We tried in the summer of 08 and the mountain was fully closed due to construction. I had more success this time. I walked up with the kids on a typically freezing May day in SF. The wind was howling and there were no views due to the low fog. Still fun.

Mt Davidson TH  Sucess!

My wife and I took public transportation to the area of the trailhead. There were no views as the fog laid like blanket over SF. Still it was a wonderful place to visit inside the city.

My 8th CA cohp  Sucess!

Walked up this one in dress shoes and slacks on a foggy afternoon with my nephew Spencer. Very cool monument on top.

Me too  Sucess!

Did as part of a county hp weekend in the Bay Area, visiting my sister. Got lost on the city streets, a kind mailman pointed me the way.

Once I found a TH...  Sucess!

it was easy going. Getting to the correct spot took some navigating. I ended parked in a neighborhood by a rock stairway that eventually took me to the top.

Gothic Peak  Sucess!

Didn't have any views with the fog, but the cross in the fog created a somewhat gothic environment. Although not originally created as a memorial to the Armenian massacre, it did open my eyes to a chapter in history I didn't know much about...1.5 million Armenians massacred by the Turks. Better views can be had from nearby Twin Peaks, which is heavily touristed.

Great View...  Sucess!

of fog. Took my wife and 1 year old daughter up(it was here first summit) It took us 30 minutes from car to summit and back down. Then we headed to Bubba Gumps to celebrate. All together a great day in the greatest city in the world. A word of warning. Don't take a stroller up the trail and don't wear flip flops.

Bagged it  Sucess!

Since I live in San Francisco, I figured I'd make the quick walk to the top. It was a beautiful day today and the view towards downdown and south sf were really great. Too bad there really aren't any good views towards the ocean...to many trees on the west side.

My first official county highpoint  Sucess!

Perhaps the only COHP in CA with easy access by public transit. In fact, I waved off a bus at the trailhead.

Time to kill  Sucess!

My wife, youngest and I had time to kill after the Exploratoreum closed and the time we were to pick up my middle daughter from the theater where she was performing, so we drove down to Mt. Davidson and strolled up and back. The views of the lights of the East Bay at twilight was cool.

Early morning visit  Sucess!

Fellow SP'er Dennis Poulin and my self hit this one about 6 a.m. on a sunday morning while it was still dark. Kinda spooky in a way but an interesting place. No traffic at this time of the morning and we went on to do the cohp's of Santa Cruz and San Mateo. Interesting plaque just below the cross. The photos here give me an idea of what the area looked like in daylight. Not much of a hike. Lots of trash along the trail, not an area I'd want to be in alone at night. However, it was the first of 4 cohp's in one day before I had to fly back home via the Sacramento airport.

Short, fun, and interesting  Sucess!

Went up at about 12:30pm, up that ridiculously sloped Dalewood Way from Portola. The cloud deck was right around the peak, so not much in the way of visibility, but still some peaks at good views to the south. Overall the mountain is very lush and green, and a nice quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle below. Will definitely come back when its clearer.

Nice 30-min. diversion from the northbound 19th Ave. slog  Sucess!

This was a nice little easy jaunt for me and my 6-month pregnant wife (she's in no mood to hike anything more major than this one right now). I think it would be cool if they got the San Francisco Marathon to climb up this peak.

10 minute hike from the road  Sucess!

Climbed to the monument, but wasn't too impressed with the views.

Memorable highpoint  Sucess!

This is a memorable highpoint with nice city views and a cool monument at the top, one of the best of the lesser highpoints. Of course this doesn't offer much in the way of mountaineering, but what can you expect from 927 feet!
