HP #1
I had graduated from Grove City College that morning and was on my way home. My fiance and I decided to swing by our state's highest point en route. The view from the tower was amazing, but we forgot the camera!

Bad trail map
Wanted to do this as a little bit of a hike. Parked at junction of Wolf Rock Rd and Shelter Rock Road. Wanted to walk Shelter Rock Road (it is closed to cars, just a trail) to the summit. Map suggested going left, but it took us the wrong way. The trail map is messed up I think. Drove to summit after.

Scary Tower
"Hiked" up to the observation tower right around sunset and climbed up (despite a fear that it might disintegrate beneath our feet). Afterwards we spent quite a bit of time searching for the USGS marker only to (finally) figure out that we had been walking right past it the whole time [Hint: it is located at eye-level not foot level so if you are looking down you will never find it] Headed down into northern Maryland afterwards for dinner and pie after a long day with 3 high points!!!

A cold day...
On a trip to Western Pennsylvania, I decided to do this one again. It had been 6 years since I was there last, so time to do it again. Very cold at the peak, but the coolest thing was the sound the wind made as it blew through the fire tower. The noise was hauntingly beautiful.

HP No. 18
Summited with my wife (No. 11). No view except from tower which we did not climb due to a man who appeared to not even know he was above a high point (and hopefully was not driving either). HP three of three today (West Virginia and Maryland).

Nothing much here. A really tall tower with decent views, but the mountain itself is like a plateau so very little prominence.

State HP #18
We hiked the 1 mile trail from the picnic area though the woods up to the HP, just to say we got some hiking done. But it was lackluster, as was the high point itself. The views were great from the tower, which was insanely tall, and you could see 360 panorama. Really just another check mark on our list. State HP #18!!

Point #3
Did this hike with a few friends who were not avid hikers. Pretty easy. We took a longer trail from the bottom and did some light bouldering on some rocks we passed, as well as the rocks across from the picnic area.

easy day
First of three high points for the day. Hiked up from the picnic area and it was easy, which is good because all the running around in the Catskills earlier in the week gave me a nasty cold. Nice observation tower and plaque area.

Sixth HP
A bit tricky to find, at least from the directions Google gave me, but well worth it. The exhibits near the tower are very interesting and the tower itself affords a great view. Very pretty part of the country.
