from Waldorf  Sucess!

took it from Waldorf mines on the eastern side of Argentine Pass, I gained alot of weight in a very short period of time prior to this climb, wanted to go over to Argentine but storm clouds were building. DAAAAARN. Ran back down before it started to rain, still got wet though

SW slopes  Sucess!

From Argentine Pass trailhead. Getting up the Argentine Pass trail was more tiring than expected due to endless traversing of still firm snow slopes that didn't allow for good kick steps. Winds up on the ridge were also tiring. Intended to do an Edwards/McClellan/Grays/Ruby circuit but only got the first two.

Edwards and McClellan after Kelso Ridge and Grays Peak  Sucess!

My buddy Jon and I completed a fun loop of Grizzly Gulch bagging 3 ranked peaks. Kelso Ridge to Torreys, saddle to Grays, saddle to Edwards (class 2 with 3 options), down the ridge over McClellan to a scree gully descent back to Grizzly Gultch TH. Great loop to avoid some crowds and lazy class 1 trails.

Waldorf mine  Sucess!

A beautiful, long day above treeline the whole time. I was amazed at all the wire and "mining stuff" up on the ridge.

Great beginner peak  Sucess!

At least from Waldof Mine, this would be a great non-crowded beginner climb. Really windy on this trip!

West Ridge via Stevens Gulch Trailhead  Sucess!

I climbed this mountain with my freind Mark (aka "asphazel") on a chilly, windy day. We only saw two other climbers the whole day. The West Ridge is a fun route up Edwards and had me reminiscent of a prior trip up Grays and Torreys. I would imagine the West Ridge develops some avalanche pockets later into the winter season.

Route Climbed: west ridge from stevens gulch TH Date Climbed: July 10, 2005  Sucess!

Went with some friends that wanted to do Grays. I'd already done Grays, so I split off just below the summit and hiked the ridge over to Edwards. About 10 to 15 goats kept forcing me to drop down to the south side of the ridge, which was a bit annoying.

Route Climbed: West Ridge Date Climbed: 9/16  Sucess!

This would be the perfect ridge to take someone on who is interested in getting into ridge traversing. Staying on the trail makes the route true at 2+ but we opted to stay on top of the ridge as much as we could, getting into some good class 3. I guess Grays gets all of the attention because its a 14'er but Edwards is far more fun. Saw lots of gullys on the Peak. I'm wondering which ones fill up with snow.

Route Climbed: Grays Peak Trail, switch back north to Edwards ridge Date Climbed: November 2004  Sucess!

This was a really fun winter outing...only saw two people all day which is a sharp contrast to the summer activity in this area. I love this area....Torrey's is so impressive! Had a fun glissade down to the valley for a mix of rock jumping/post-hole-hell in between the boulders.

Route Climbed: Southeast Ridge Date Climbed: July 8, 1984  Sucess!

We parked at the Waldorf Mine and followed the old road to the SW as it gradually climbed up to Argentine Pass. From the pass it is an easy ridge walk north to the summit of Edwards. We returned rapidly to the car by glissading snowfields down the east face back to the mine.

Nice short hike and easy way to get out. Great views of Grays and Torreys and better yet, no people!

The wildflowers in the valley near the mine are stunning. Well worth the trip in the summer.

Route Climbed: East Ridge via Argentine Pass from Horseshoe Basin Date Climbed: September 25, 2004  Sucess!

Lot's of snow on the trail up to Argentine Pass. Some snow fields on the East Ridge. Used the ice axe often. Steady postholing climb up to the pass. Didn't see anyone on the trail or on the ridge. Had Horseshoe Basin to myself. Beautiful views of Grays, Torreys, Bierstadt and Evans.
