Summitted the day after my 50th birthday. Thanks to everyone on top for the rousing "Happy Birthday". That was fun.
Highpoint Number 10 was a success via the North Elbert Trail
This was my wife's second mountain ever, after topping out on Democrat a couple days earlier. We drove up the 2 miles to the real trailhead to avoid the extra hike.
Pretty easy hike. Contrary to many others, we saw maybe only 20 people the whole day.
Crowded!! Saw 50 people on the summit, 0 on Black Cloud. Lame summit view
I reached the summit with hiking pals, Phil Miller and Dan Spare in about three and a half hours. Beautiful weather encouraged the long walk to the top with at least 50 people at the summit. My 7th fourteener.
Beautiful Day. Way too many people though.
great hike up, not quite as easy as i thought it would be but definately fun. Nothing technical, just some hills :)
Went up via South Elbert Trail. Hail on the way down.
Great day on a great mountain. Started to rain just as we hit the tree line on the way down. Darryl
Easiest 14er I've done - total walk-up ... not that I'm complaining!
We had the summit to ourselves. Great climb (see trip report)
Great roadtrip out to Leadville with a hike up the northeast ridge.
We had a phenominal day... zero clouds. Took the Southeast trail from the lower trailhead/parking lot. 7 hours total (including some time to hang at the summit). Lots of fun, great views.
A fun 4 hour recovery hike the day after the Leadville marathon.
Was a long hike but the new knee held up.
My last 14er of that summer before I had to move out of CO for a while. Friends and I did the Black Cloud trail which turned out to be the perfect choice. We were the only ones to climb that route that day. Quite a change of scenery to pop out on the summit to 100 people.
Pretty easy hike to "bag" a 14er.
Took me 2 hours on the East ridge route. It was a zoo on top, people everywhere.
