A bit of a cool breeze eased the standing heat for the day. Total sun exposure for the loop. Nice southerly views of the back country peaks for the San Gabriels.
Mistakenly ascended up P5100 but easily walked the ridge to Old Emma and then onto Mount Emma. Followed the old bulldozer road from north side of Mount Emma to the drainage/wash and then back to the road. 2400' of gain in a little under 6 miles. Added Cole Point also. Cool and windy with great views!
Very windy day, both Emma's and Cole Point.
Beautiful day hike of Mount Emma and Old Mount Emma via the usual parking place. Delightfully more ups and downs than were inspected.
along with point 5080
Couple of HPS peaks with impressive views of the desert. Very windy summits, hiked as a winter storm was clearing out.
Sustained 30mph winds with gusts up to 50mph almost blew me over a couple of times but made for clear views all around.
Just before getting to the summit I started feeling really sick so turned around after Emma only. I will be back to bag Old Emma!!!
Didn't see another soul on the trail. Tagged Emma and Old Emma. Cool breeze along the ridgeline and atop Old Emma. Nice day.
Nice afternoon hike. Went up some steep loose crap to the summit and followed a nice ridge back down to Emma Road with about a mile to the vehicle.
Nice hike from Emma road, little windy on the ridge.
Nice workout for old guys like me. I would only do this in winter or at night. Nice views with 40 mph winds.
Very hot day bagging these two along with Cole Point!
Dayhike from Mt. Emma Road.
"...just as I predicted..." Yeah right :-)
out and back, jeebus, 6000 ft gain 12 miles. just as I predicted :P
Hiked from the Forest Highway (across Aliso Canyon Road) to Cole Point. From there we hiked over many steep bumps past the shooting range to Mt. Emma and Old Mt. Emma. Great views into the Mojave Desert. Hiked the same way back. Total for the in and out: 12 miles and 6,000 feet of elevation gain.
Another day of HPS peakbagging, another fine day of weather in SoCal. Trip Report
Part of a 3 peak day with an HPS group. These are nice wintertime peaks with great views of the San Gabriels and the Antelope Valley.
With Travis & Coco -- very windy
