Mt Esja or Mt Esjan
It was so different to be on a hike and not see any trees or animals but this allowed amazing views of Reykjavik. I didn't make the summit because I arrived too late and didn't want to miss that last bus!

lovely day
nice warm day with a lot of people on the trail, most turned on lower slopes, or by stein. Continued to the summit cairn and log on Pverfellshorn, and then explored higher parts of broad and huge Esja's summit (a lot of large cairns).
Great views of Reykjavik, blooming lupine along the trail.

Pretty much what Sarah said. Surprisingly great day despite being in the car for so long. Take the preestablished trail NOT the social trail. It's a mess.

Our first attempt in foul weather was thwarted and we stopped at p-horn. We finally had bright sunny clear weather and Kiefer and I made a late day dash up to the top! The last few kilometers to/from the actual summit were interesting, over volcanic rock, muck and moss. Made it back to p-horn just as the sun was going down. Incredible views of Reykjavik and the Atlantic ocean from there! Popular night hike for locals! Hiked out by headlamp.
