West Side Winter  Sucess!

Second time, winter ascent from the west with Rachael. Good snowmobile track to 12,100' and then while we were up on the peak a snow cat groomed the road to that point. Hardly needed snowshoes (just along the powerlines to the ridge crest, stashed them by the communications equipment). Windy on the ridge, but otherwise a warm clear day for January.

Evans-B with Pennsylvania Mtn and Dyer Mtn  Sucess!

Sacramento Creek Trailhead. Did Pennsylvania Mountain first then continued on to Evans-B. Climbed the class 3 (if you stay on ridge crest) connecting ridge to Dyer Mountain. Was also going to pick up Gemini and Sherman, but a storm blew in.

Shuttled hike with Penn  Sucess!

I hiked up Pennsylvania Mtn via its standard SE ridge route (after taking a long time to find the TH), then down its west ridge and up Evans B. Was going to add London with Shawn (who was doing the ridge from Tweto to Repeater) and down to his car on Mosquito Pass Rd, but he skipped Arkansas which put him way ahead of schedule.

Mosquito  Sucess!

Great holidays that I spent in the mountains. First day, I hiked Jacque Peak and Pennsylvania Mountain. It was very smoky that day, first glimpse on the fire season. View of Tenmiles are great. Second day I hiked Tweto, Mosquito, Treasurevault, Repeater, Evans B and London. Great and long trip.

From Mosquito Pass Rd  Sucess!

Ever get the feeling that a certain mountain just doesn't want you near its summit? I'm starting to get that feeling from Dyer. We planned on crossing the ridge from Evans to Dyer, but my friend's canine companion balked at one of the moves, so we backed off of Dyer and just took our summit of Evans and returned to the Jeep. Next time, I guess...

North Ridge from east  Sucess!

Argh, this was the first day that really felt like winter. Cold, blustery, blowing snow, etc. Of course, I didn't have my goggles and my tears were freezing to the inside of my sunglasses. Ah (sigh!) winter is back in the high country!

Evans, Pennsylvania  Sucess!

Parking below London Mountain the wife, pup and I hiked Evans and Pennsylvania. Holy hell crossing the snowy willows, sans snowshoes, from Pennsylvania back to the road was miserable!!

Mt. Evans B  Sucess!

The private mine & it's closure south of London Mtn. made me amend my plans to climbing the north ridge route from the Mosquito Pass road. I did carry my alpine ski equipment (40+ pound day pack) w/ my dog, Clayton. There still were several sections I had to walk between snow near the pass, but still consider it a successful ski descent (my only real one). This is a great aclimating mountain for an early season workout and can be combined w/ many other 13ers along it's ridges.

Brrrrr!  Sucess!

Climbed Evans B and Pennsylvania on a stormy, bitter cold winter day. No views. Makes for a good winter hike because it is rather short and gentle slopes make it generally avy safe. The power lines are a little ugly though.
