Northeast highpoint trip  Sucess!

I was lucky to find this highpoint because the guidebooks were very sketchy with the information they provided. For some reason back then I was just happy to visit the state highpoint and not the summit of Mt Frissel. Maybe it was because my wife was waiting.

Piece o' Cake  Sucess!

Sweet little climb. Easy to find, as long as you pay attention. We saw lots of wildlife, and although the weather was windy and gnarly, it was totally worth it. HP #3 for the Mrs, HP #5 for me.

South Taconic Trail  Sucess!

Parked near the state border on Washington Road. Hiked on the Frissell Trail to the summit and then down to the State Highpoint on a cool, rainy day. My wife did not want to come back down the steep trail so we decided to take the alternate route which was "easier". Hiked to the Tri-State marker and then hiked down the South Taconic Trail to Boston Corners Road in New York. Hitched a ride back to our SUV with a very nice teacher from The Hotchkiss School in Connecticut. South Taconic Trail is very steep with some great views. My wife did not appreciate the "alternate" route. HP #28.

Should be named Frizzel  Sucess!

Had a great time! Running out of gas (nearest gas station is in NY) not too fun but definitely worth it for the views and hike.

Last Minute  Sucess!

It was nearly nightfall and we almost ran out of gas but decided to hike it as fast as we could before it got too dark. Fun and short hike that had some very nice views.

Soggy Summit  Sucess!

Ok, it's not really a summit. Very lame highpoint, but we ticked it off. It was rainy and cold but we had fun.

Dayhike  Sucess!

Jogged up the trail, stopped at what ended up being the CT HP, but didn't realize it at the time. I was looking for the "green stake" and didn't realize that the stake was so miniscule. Proceeded on the trail to the tri-state marker, then up to Mt. Brace in Duchess Co, NY, where a rattlesnake den deterred further progress. On the way back, climbed to the Frissell summit proper (obscured in trees) where a soggy register was hung from a tree. Back to the car and back to Boston for the rest of the vacation.

HOT! HOT! HOT!  Sucess!

This was the last of the six New England summits we traversed, and although it was a more challenging climb than any of us thought it would be, it was the least impressive. Still, the views from the "green stake" and along the trail were very nice. The 90+ weather didn't help.
