SE Slope/NE Ridge
Day 4 of the 2007 Sierra Challenge. Climbed in conjunction with The Hermit for a long, 15hr+ day. Trip Report

SE slope
Chose this route in a misguided effort to avoid the strong winds on the ridge. My reward was lots of happy talus hopping.

NE-Ridge
Day 3, 2007 Sierra Challenge. A very enjoyable climb from Alpine Col with Eric and Bill. Made a loop via Darwin Canyon and Mt. Lamarck with Eric. Darwin Canyon is very beautiful. <11h car to car.

NE Ridge
Sierra Challenge 2007 with Eric and Michael. The NE Ridge was very enjoyable, but barely compensated for the tedious descent over endless talus from Alpine Col.

NE Ridge (ascent) / SE slope (descent)
Sierra Challenge 2007 peak with Chris (metasyn11) and Patrick (moabpeakbagger). Hours and hours of talus for 15 minutes of exciting Cl.3 knife edge ridge. Dave Daly rewarded us with beers at the trailhead. Thx Dave!

NE ridge
Scrambled up the exciting NE ridge from Alpine Col, as day 3 of the '07 Sierra Challenge. Climbed down the gentler SE slopes, then back up and down Alpine Col for an extended talus workout.

Dayhike out of North Lake, up via Piute Pass/Alpine Col and returning via Darwin Canyon/Mt. Lamarck. Goethe Lake is lined with absolutely HUGE boulders! I found the west side to be kind of tedious with a backpack a couple of years ago (and I'm pretty sure I swore off ever visiting the lake again at the time)... unfortunately, I found that the east side is no better.
I couldn't figure out why Secor rates the NE ridge as class 3-4; it seemed pretty easy, no more than class 3. Nice scramble on good rock though. The SE slopes, on the other hand, were kind of tedious--talus, and not the nice scree run I was hoping for.
