After Chocolate  Sucess!

Solo trip. Went around Saddlerock Lake and refilled water. Sandy and slippery until the last 400' where boulders took over. Class 3 at the top on the right side of the summit, though not exposed. Two young men were on the summit when I arrived. Massive views of Cloudripper, Picture Puzzle, and Agassiz. Much faster coming down.

Windy  Sucess!

Really enjoyable peak. It was my son's first big mountain, did it on day 2 of a 3-day backpack. Awful winds in camp and on the lower slopes, but it was surprisingly really nice on the summit. We ventured into a lot of Class 3 boulder scrambling on the way up, found the Class 2 option heading down.

Crappy snow made it tougher  Sucess!

I keep forgetting the record snow year, as most of the SE slope was still blanketed. Brought crampons but no axe, was steeper than I expected. Crappy variable snow led to tedious and careful step-kicking. The way down was more adventurous than the way up.

SE Slope  Sucess!

Quite a scenic hike out of South Lake, took the trail to just past Saddlerock Lake, a use trail leads to a small cabin, from there its cross country across the lake outlet, then up semi-steep slopes to about 12,000 feet where you get a nice break and the peak becomes obvious, just start heading up. There is a use trail for 2/3 of the way up, although this is better for descent, staying to the left (south) of the summit is better (right side has massive sized boulders). Two competing high points within about 50 feet of each other, didn't find a register at either location. One other hiker was leaving summit as we arrived, then once we got back to the trail by Saddlerock Lake we ran into a group of about 6 young women who were heading to Mt. Goode and we shared some route beta (it was 3 PM so hopefully they were going to camp and try the next day).

East ridge  Sucess!

From Bishop Pass trail I made a right turn just passed Saddlerock Lake. I thought the route would take me up the miserable looking SE Slope. But I stood on to the right, on the rocky ridge untill I got to the bowl. From there, up to the summit, it wasn't bad. It took 3 hours from parking lot to summit.

SE slope  Sucess!

Without snow, 6 hours may be sufficient; with at least 1500 ft steep snow climb, Jean and I spent 10 hours on it.

Goode day!  Sucess!

Climbed/hiked Goode from camp at saddlerock lake. Snowed on our way up and down! Next day we woke up at saddlerock to everything covered with probably half a foot of snow or so. Glad we did it on the 17 not the 18! Great way to spend my birthday weekend. Def some class 3 towards the top also! Couldnt tell if we summited the correect peak or not because of the fog/snow but we were re-assured by the summit register!

6 on top  Sucess!

Group of 11, but only 6 made the summit. The route we attempted was definitely Class 3. Passed the false summit and had to descend an exposed knife edge to the true summit. Scary stuff!

Independence Day  Sucess!

Great day to be out in the mountains with unobstructed 360 degree views from the summit. Loose dirt was a pain but the climbing near the top was fun. Also could see Mount Whitney.

North Buttress III 5.9  Sucess!

Climbed with Amy as a day hike from South Lake. Did not have to walk even a minute with a headlamp. Started at sunrise, came back before sun set. North buttress was a nice route. Led the crux pitch which was awesome. Linked with 5.8 chimney.
