7 h car to car.
Fun hike with an SPS group.
Went with Luciano's group. Fantastic cool clear day. Once you get off the sand we found some fun class 3 scrambling near the ridge.
Second time on Mt. Goode. Since there was a lot more snow than expected, we climbed this peak instead of planned Mt. Agassiz. Mixed snow conditions combined with some class 3 rock near the summit made for a rather tedious climb. I went with SP-er mtndonkey.
SE SLOPE AND EAST RIDGE - NOV 4TH 2007
This was a great day out with a good group of people! The x-country part took quite a bit longer than expected. We took sort of a direct approach to the East (?) Ridge and then scrambled to the summit. There are some good class 3 moves. Participants: Adam and brother, Arthur, Laura (Moosetracks), Dave (ramblindave), Chrissy and myself.
Beautiful albeit windy day in the mountains. Came to climb Agassiz, but the easy route was filled with snow, and as my climbing partner was 5 months pregnant, we opted for the clear, sure thing of Goode. I tried to stay in the rocks as much as possible, as I'ld rather have class 3 rock, than class 2 sand. Gorgeous summit, though I can't get the North Buttress out of my head
Great day out. Had a blast.
with dug. Quite fast seven pitches - 4.5 hours or so? Very clean rock, real fun enjoyable climbing. I thought it would have been harder.
got off route on the North Buttress for one of the more scary experiences of my life.
Uneventful hike from standard route (S/SE slopes) near Bishop Pass. Impressive N. face!
Fun dayhike from the Bishop Pass trailhead. The wildflowers were beautiful.
Car-2-Car... w/ Chris A.
N. Buttress Route w/ Brian.
Opted for the sit-start - in a hole at the toe of the buttress. Opened with an iced dihedral to overhanging block. A stiff cup of coffee.
Hiked up from Bishop Lake in perfect weather. Sat on the summit blocks for a while admiring the view of Devil's Crags and other peaks. A beautiful day.
If you don't like the beach approach, try the North Buttress! :-) Part 3 in a regularly occuring 17-hr day trip series with Oaklander. Soft snow starting from the trailhead. Climb is great . . . but loose. In fact, if you are approaching this route and see someone on it, I would recommend NOT climbing this route. A few rocks came loose on our watch that would have been very bad news if someone were below. But if you're the first party, I highly recommend it!
Climbed class 3 ridge past false summit after false summit. Quite entertaining, until the snow started hitting heavy on the descent. 8 hours CTC.
last couple hundred feet is a sort of fun scramble, the rest is a beach
Also climbed 12,916' and 12,652'. A gorgeous blue sky day.
Loose and sandy from Bishop Lake.
Felt like I was hiking at the beach. Made for a quick decent though.
Not too difficult but a little more tiring than I though it would be. I accidentally went up bishop pass before I realized I completely missed the mountain. You technically start the climb at the Saddlerock Lake.
