Nice early season trip in a dry year, Great views
W/ Rahil, Peter & Laura
Nice hike from Kearsarge Pass, there is a use trail almost all the way to the top. The summit is interesting.
Nice outing, very dry conditions for this early in the season.
Summitted as part of a ski tour to Rae Lakes. From Golden Trout Lake over Mount Gould into the Dragon lake basin.
North side of summit pinnacle had snow so I climbed it from the west side. Stout mantle to get on top and I'm 6' 4". Continued on to Rixford.
A quick scree slog to some cool blocks from the pass.
Fun climb with Paul Walton, Jim Burd and Dave. SC2012 day 9 alternate peak.
Fun scramble down.
Found my way up here without knowing what the peak was called. Was pleased to find a register. The summit block itself is a fun little challenge.
Hiked over from the pass on my way to Rae Lakes. Second time up.
not the best climb but worth while
Climbed to the top on our way over Kearsarge Pass to Kearsarge Lakes.
A 13er with a fun summit block and a time-saving scree descent! I have climbed it five times.
From Onion Valley, with Tang. Dayhiked Rixford's south slope before traversing to Mt Gould
Went back to Gould almost exactly 5 years later. Not much effect from the altitude this time; interesting how the body adapts over the years. Anyway, hiked from Kearsarge Pass. Still some decent snow to the pass and clear to the summit (two small snow fields that can be avoided). A little warm on the way up but otherwise a great hike! Didn't see anyone beyond the pass.
First summit - Aug 12, 2006.
Climbed with Allen (see below) as a dayhike from Huntington Beach. Woke up at 3:30am and got back home around 1am. A long but fun day! I tend to get affected by altitude fairly easily and wondered if I would be able to make it from sea-level to 13k feet in a day. I noticed the altitude right at the trailhead. I tried to keep up the pressure breathing and only got a severe headache right near the summit.
Well acclimatized, it definitely would've been easier but it was nonetheless very enjoyable. Awesome scenery and views!
Climbed up from Kearsarge Pass during a light snow storm. Snow & ice made the summit blocks spicy!
Beautiful area, but the peak itself was not much more impressive than the pass.
Fun hike with good friends.
The scree on the Golden Trout Lake side was horrible and made for a very tough climb. But the short class 3 sections at the summit are worth the effort.
