Route Climbed: East Ridge  Sucess!

Bumped into this guy in his mid 50's on the summit who had lived in the wilderness surrounding this peak in the 1970's.

NW ridge  Sucess!

Just missed a calendar winter summit on this one, but it was a rare almost bluebird Dec day! We started from French Gulch and enjoyed a nice track and left it before the east side of the nw ridge got too steep. The snow is very unstable right now as we heard many whumps and saw some shooting cracks along the ridge crest. The steep talus wasn't too loose as it was frozen together well. Added Mineral Hill on the way out for a sweet day!

Northwest Ridge from French Gulch  Sucess!

This time of year is always funny. We were freazing our rumps off on this mountain, then by the time we get to Denver, people are walking around in short sleeve shorts and we've got the windows down. I was pleasantly surprised at how much snow was on Guyot, esp. given how dry the Front Range is this year. What a wonderful, bluebird day! Partners: Dave "Mountain Demon's" CMC trip.

Northwest Ridge  Sucess!

All the usual cohorts were busy, so it turned into a nice solo day in the hills. I couldn't have asked for a nicer day in Feb...barely any wind, sunny....I'm still suprised by the lack of snow up high.

NW Ridge  Sucess!

Climbed with Shanahan96 and Jamie Nellis from French Creek. As Jamie said, it took longer than expected but I think we were just enjoying being out and taking some long leisurely breaks to enjoy the day!

Gorgeous Day  Sucess!

Flawless day...bushwacked up the Northwest Ridge dirtectly to the summit ridge. Encountered some bulletproof snow near the top, but nothing snowshoes or crampons couldn't get up. Also, lots of rock exposed if those were (for some ungodly reason) not within your possession.

Route Climbed: Northwest Ridge from French Gulch Date Climbed: March 6, 2007  Sucess!

My brother Paul, Ben and I followed the summer bike path from French Creek, gained the North Ridge and took it to the summit. It was a perfect day on a great trail. Found some great areas for backcountry skiing. There was also a huge avalanche debris field at the base of the mountian.

Great day, short sleeve weather all the way to the summit. Guyot is a beautiful mountain which you can often have to yourself.

Route Climbed: SE ridge from Michigan Lake Date Climbed: August 13, 2005

An interesting way of getting to the top of Guyot, making for a longer hike than the standard Georgia Pass route if you have the time.

Parked at the last crossing of Michigan Creek at the base of Georgia Pass.

Bushwacked to the lower lake, then bushwacked again to the upper tarn beneath the dramatic South ridge of Guyot (see photo dated August 2005).

The SE ridge is a nice, direct, 1800' jaunt from the tarn to the summit. Unfortunately, the weather chased me off the ridge just below the top at the false summit. A very fun, solitary hike nonetheless.
