This mountain offers a very nice climb and great views. You are above treeline from just before Little Haystack until the summit enjoying the close view of Marcy.
Took Shorty's shortcut (yellow trail) insted of Marcy trail (blue) from Slant Rock up to Haystack and wished I had just taken the Marcy trail to the split. Whoever Shorty is should be cursed for life for blazing that miserable 1.1 mile stretch that takes you near the top, then way back down to the Marcy split, where you have to climb back up again.
