A nice crampon up the chute with good conditions and lots and lots of snow. Great views of Whitney and all the high peaks from the summit!
Day hike from Meysan Lake TH. A lot of snow and Meysan Lake was still frozen.
From Mallory with Laura.
After climbing Mcadie I came back down Ark Pass and went up the sandy slope to Irvine. Once at the top of the chute I didn’t know that the summit was all the way to the East, so I half-climbed each false summit until I got to the real one.
NE ridge from Camp Lake, first summit on the way to Mallory and LeConte on a cloudy day. Nice views of the Whitney group from the ridge.
Amazing views of Whitney Basin and Mcadie. Traversed over to Irvine after Mcadie via Arc Pass. Awesome day!! This peak has been long overdue!
While exploring a route from Meysan Lake to Mt Mallory, my friend and I summited Mt Irvine, but turned around just 0.2 miles from Mallory due to exposure and winds gusting to at least 40 mph. The last signature on the register was from October of last year.
What deb said, but I traversed over to Mallory and then descended the crappy East Chute.
We traversed over from Mallory then descended the class 3 northeast ridge back to Meysan Lake.
What a shit pile! Constant loose rock and scree most of the way. Escaped somewhat by exiting early along south wall - Class 4. This peak wins the Total Crap Award this year so far. blegh! Descended shitty east chute and continued to Candlelight.... and got snowed on.
Hiked up from Soldier Lakes, ascended the first chute south of Arc Pass, descended the second chute south of the pass. The second chute was better; this is probably the route Secor describes to "Richins Pass."

After Mt. McAdie earlier in the day. Mt. Irvine has great views of Mt. McAdie, Whitney, and Russell.
We hiked up the Meysan Lakes Trail and camped the 1st night on a saddle above the lake on the ridge up to Irvine. Then we traversed over to Mallory and LeConte before going down a gully and camping below Pickering. The next day we climbed Pickering, Joe Devel and Chamberlin and then down to Crabtree Lakes. The following day we went from Crabtree to the JMT and and climbed up Discovery Pinnacle before going down the Whitney Trail.
The sandy slide down to Meysan was a fitting and desirable end to the day after four others in the area.
The complete absence of snow and the rubble filled couloir looked like a suffer fest from Camp lake. Wasn't as bad as it looked.
Spur of the moment decision to do the East Couloir. Very fast moving up, quite soft on the way down. Great views.
After following the SC'11 crew up to Consultation Lake, I split off and went straight up Irvine. The climbing was mainly 4th class with sections up to 5.6.
I enjoyed the NE ridge route from Candlelight Peak.
Climbed the E Couloir to the N. Face. Cramponed up the couloir to about 1/2 way then was able to get on the rock.
