Cold and foggy hike. Some snow on PCT on north side of Hawkins.
Gave snowshoes a go, had a great time from Crystal Lake area.
Windy Gap Trail to Islip and then on to Hawkins Ridge, Middle Hawkins and South Mt. Hawkins. Perfect day!
Very nice hike from Islip Saddle. Hiked Mount Williamson afterwards.
From MM 66.38 to Mt. Islip, Mt. Hawkins, Throop Peak, Mt. Burnham, Mt. Baden-Powell and back.
Fun little hike through the snow.
Hiked up the southwest ridge from Crystal Lake. Deep snow up top, incredible views.
Photos: Mt Islip from Crystal Lake
From mileage marker 66.37 on SR2 steeply to Windy Gap and further to Islip. Gorgeous day, warm temps in the mid 70s. Fantastic views from the top. Continued towards Hawkins after that.
With meetup.com group. Also included South Mt. Hawkins, Mt. Hawkins, Middle Hawkins, & Copter Ridge.
Very warm day . . . a loop from Crystal Lake campground.
Hiked up Mt. Islip as part of a 5 peak ridge traverse.
Nice day with Melbatoast.
One of the most beautiful days I've seen in the San Gabriels in my 30 years of skiing and hiking them. Saw a flock of bandtailed pigeons and a very noisy coyote. Awesome day.
Last time getting high.....on Earth Day we hiked up Mt. Hillyer and because it was Earth Day I was doing my part picking-up trash on the trail. Well one of the bags had a bud in it. It had been several years so it took a few months to work-up to it. So I gave it a go.....whoa....
Only went twice up Islip back when I was a San Gabriel peak freak. It still is a great little peak with nice views of its higher neighbors.
Looped w/ Hawkins. Nice half-day.
This is always a nice hike
Summited mate in the day after a day backpacking on the PCT. Set up camp at Little Jimmy then hiked to the summit. Good view into the LA basin, and the surrounding San Gabriel Mountains.
It was good and clear when I went with my friends up here.
