"As an adolescent I aspired to lasting fame, I craved factual certainty, and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls."

Gorgeous DayWill try the Gunsight pass route next time. Amazing views of the other peaks and glaciers below. Technically an easy peak but a lot of elevation

Inexperience and bad weatherHiked up to Gunsight Pass with a friend in a driving rain and dense fog. It was obvious we would not attempt the scramble as we shivered in the old hut at the top of the pass. At age 20, I didn't have proper equipment for the conditions, but at least had the sense to stick to the trail that day. We ended up trekking all the way to Lake MacDonald and then several miles up the road until we were able to hitch a ride back to our car. A long day. I was hoping to make a more serious and well-prepared attempt this summer as we return to Glacier 24 years later, but recovery from a broken leg skiing this winter will prevent me from doing any serious scrambles this season.

Mount JacksonMade this climb in one long day, and it was very tiring. This is one LONG climb without an overnight stay. But the experience was well worth it, with some of the best views in the park, period.
