Josephine

Parked at the roadblock at 2660. No current restrictions but be aware that the hike is on Sierra Pacific land. It is also part of the Pacific Northwest Trail. The drive and the summit are DNR. I hit snow at 3200.

After several attempts, finally made it  Sucess!

It shouldn't have taken us 3 tries, but between crappy slushy snow conditions, and bad weather, we got turned back several times. Finally made it to the top, 3 days before we went after Mt St Helens

Great warm up for this, Mt Josephine was

Definitely recommend, for views down the valley. and up into the Sisters, and Baker

Josephine  Sucess!

Road now blocked 2 or 3 miles below summit. Still an easy stroll.

Mount Josephine  Sucess!

The trusty Subaru took me almost all the way to the top. Just a five minute stroll from the tank traps.

Twice in a week  Sucess!

Brought the family up here so my two year old could bag his first summit under his own power. It's very short, very easy, but he was so proud of himself! Stellar views, as usual.

Confused the first time  Sucess!

The logging roads are NUTS up here. Ascend up the road, at the first major intersection, head right, at the next one, head left, at the Y that is really a triangle, head right, follow this road up and over the ridge to the north side. Drive this road until the very end, park at the anti-tank traps. The views up here were outstanding.

Josephine  Sucess!

The logging roads leading up to Josephine are a bit confusing. There is a west peak and the summit is farther east. Just headed up via switchbacks near the top and figured it out eventually.

Big Bear Breaks Trail  Sucess!

Drove road and hit snow at 3,000'. 1.5 mile snow hike to the summit. Got to the summit just at dark. Big bear tracks in the snow on the summit trail, made for an easy walk up.

Great snow hike with great views!!!
