My mapTake a look at the map I e-mailed you. I am guessing that the peak on the right is 3365 m and the peak on the left 3312 m?

Re: My mapI checked the GPS. If Noosha is not on south east it is on the south. No way to be on south west. Do you think the map might be wrong in locating the village like the names of the peaks? Its really confusing

Re: My mapAssuming that the peak that you call Sor-e-Gol is the one that I identified on my map, then Noosha is to the SW of it. I don't think the map will make such a big mistake.
In regard to the names of the peaks, I must say that the Topographic maps were not made for mountain climbers. They use names that local people have traditionally used. For this reason, you can see one name on the south side of a peak and another name on the north side of the same peak. I can see how the locals on the north side of the same peak might have called the mountain by a different name.
I also understand that the locals might not have had a reason to give a name to each and every little peak/high point. (think of names such as Dena, Zard Kooh, Paloon Gardan...which really refer to a whole mountain ranges rather than a single peak). It is only mountain climbers that need to give a name to every little peak and define what constitutes "a Peak" and what is just a high point. It has probably been no more than 75 years that mountain climbing has become so popular in Iran (I know that shepherds/traders etc have climbed all of these peaks over the last several thousand years but they had other motives than pure climbing). It is now up to mountain climbers to get together and standardize the names of the peaks.

Re: My mapI agree. We already have some peaks in the area that we are planning to name! some around siyalan, some in Dakooh area and some between shahsavar and lakterashan. About the place of Noosha I am a little confused now. I will check that As soon as I climb Kashdan or go to Noosha this spring by the compass. Till then Im going to change my words a little about Noosha location.
