Mikhail Lermontov mentions this peak in a Hero of our Time. Good addition

Good one. I assume from your Ushba Page that you will be adding routes soon. Make sure to add this to the Caucasus Mountain group.

Already a nice page, even if not finished.

Great photos and interesting text.

Make sure to add a section about the safety issues in this area, as it is different from the Elbrus or Bezengi areas.

Thank for your remark! If you have some information about any special safety issues in Kazbek area, please, post it to me. I have no info on this subject. Thanks again, Alex

I wanted to climb Kazbek when I was in Georgia 2000 and in Russia 2004, but both times I was told the area was dangerous. In Georgia I was told it was off limits because of "bandits" at the time I was there. When in Russia climbing in Bezengi, I was told I could not go towards the Kazbek area of the Caucasus due to much more unrest and less safety in the east. I have not more information than that.

The are no such country as South Osetia .
