East Slope  Sucess!

After just hiked Twin Sisters and Mtn. earlier, I made the walk up to Battle Mountain which, was my goal. I taked on Lady Washington since I was up there and still felt good.
Took Jim's Grove down. Long but satisfying day.

Martha  Sucess!

Martha was still in winter conditions and was mostly just deep, soft snow. Luckily Mike N broke trail but climbing still involved thigh deep wading through snow.

Via Martha  Sucess!

Climbed in winter conditions via Martha. Martha had deep, steep snow. The 2 ice cruxes were not hard but required some thinking. Descended via eastern slopes. There is a lot of snow up there. A fracture line could be seen on Flying Dutchman.

Great Views  Sucess!

Went to the park to attempt Longs, but there was still too much snow so I decided to head up Mt. Lady Washington. Great views from the summit!

Ugly mountain, beautiful views  Sucess!

Lady Washington is just a big pile of rubble, but you get great views of Meeker and Longs, two beautiful peaks.

It was really windy when we climbed - - gusts over 35 mph on the summit, I'd guess (it was difficult to stand up).

East Slope  Sucess!

High winds and lack of sleep convinced me to save Longs for another day. Nice consolation prize.

East slopes  Sucess!

Hiked by myself on a Thursday on a day off from work. I had it to myself. The views of the diamond and Meeker are awesome- almost as good as my nap on the summit! I brought along snowshoes but didn't use them. I recommend starting early and leaving them at home if you are going now.
