an unusually warm day
Did the loop in May 2006. Great views from all along the ridge.
Up past hut
Came over Mount Garfield from the Garfield Camp Site, hit Lincoln as well.
Went up with my husband EastKing! It was really windy!! I hurt both of my knees going down. However it gave me a good profile shot.
Went over Lincoln first, then along Franconia ridgeline (magnificent) and up to Lafayette. Views are awesome. Franconia ridge is one of the most spectacular mountain areas in the eastern US. Lafayette is a beautifully sculpted alpine mountain. Went down bridle trail. Entire day is full of views. Spectacular!
Reached the summit and traversed the ridge on this overcast but clear December day. Great final hike of '05.
great mt in all seaons
My favorite hike in all the whites.
Very windy and foggy. Nice route. Writing trip report next.
Lafayette is one of my favorite mountains in NH, the views are outstanding and the summit is beautiful. Two of my most memorable trips :
Climbing the bridle path to the top at night (arrived at the summit at 1 AM with noone around in July)
Climbing the bridle path at night in a blizzard in November. We did not make the summit and ended up camping in the middle of the trail near Greenleaf hut. There was 18" of fresh snow by morning. Fun Fun Fun!
Above the Greenleaf Hut, the wind blew the clouds away and it was a glorious summit day. Terrific views (even Washington eventually cleared). And every time I got tired on the Falling Waters trail I turned around and saw another beautiful waterfall!
not like summits out West, but cool to be on tundra in the East
Great view, good traverse with Lincoln and Haystack
This was part of our first leg of our Franconia to Pinkham hike. Fog most of the way.
One more false summit would make this peak even better, don't ya think? After leading 9 teenagers from Garfield, finally reaching the summit was a blessing and well worth the climbing. We were enroute to Greenleaf Hut for the evening and had a nice clear day on the ridge.
Great day and views
Fantastic hike on a hot day. Trail is easy going, small scrambles on the agonies. Meeting the hut at treeline is a welcome site to those low on water. Views are beautiful ascending the ridge.
A bad weather, but they look's like very great. I wish to do again.
