franconia has views?
Well...I've HEARD it's really pretty out there...I'll just have to use my imagination...socked in right from the start. Oh well...at least the trail was awesome!
Just climbed it today. Absolutely fantastic weather. I think I could see Europe.....

Perfect Views
Hiked up the old bridle path. Trail very clean and well kept. Beautiful views starting at halfway up. Hiked to Greenleaf Hut, then to summit. There was no one else on the summit since we were there later in the day. Clear views, and very light winds. Since we wanted to get back down before dark, we went down old bridle path again.

rough on the knee
Hiked Franconia ridge, knee pain from torn PCL in March. Perfect day for a ridge walk.

Mount Lafayette Summit
Did this mountain as part of the Franconia Ridge loop; an 8.9 mile trail over 6 summits, including Lafayette. Cold, icy, very windy, exhausting, but exhilarating with excellent views of the Pemigewasset Wilderness when the weather is clear.

Not too crowded.
Afraid the trail would be packed, but it was actually pretty pleasant.

Valentines Day Massacre
Girlfriend and I went up on Valentine's Day 2009. Great views of Cannon and the Kinsman's on the way up, but the Ridge was in the fog. On top we were battered by 60mph winds, wicked temperatures, and no visibility. It was so much fun I might do the whole ridge trail in a few weeks!

Winter Conditions
Went up the old bridal path with a well packed trail. Used crampons from the Greenleaf hut until the summit. Had around 40+ mph gusts above treeline and was getting cold with the wind.

4 Peak String
Left from the Lafayette Campground and hit Lafayette as the first peak then headed to Lincoln, Liberty, and Flume. Lovely trail and beautiful views from the top. Chilly and windy (as usual) but gorgeous!

Up Old Bridle, Down Falling Waters
My first trip in the whites in NH, what an introduction. The trails were well kept and beautiful. The clouds rolled in and out making a dramatic scene.

Mount Lafayette
Climbed with Little Haystack and Lincoln via the Falling Waters Trail from Franconia Notch. My final 4000' in New Hampshire and also one of the best. Definately one of the best hikes in the Northeast. We had nearly perfect weather for our final climb with views in nearly every direction for most of the hike. Lots of people at the summit but it didn't seem to detract from the experience. A fantastic finish indeed!
