I love grinding up the summit cone in winter.

Brilliant October foliage
Backpacked in and the weather had us completely engulfed in fog. Set up camp to see how the next day would turn out. It was still foggy, but not as thick so we started up. Just as we came over the treeline the fog started to burn off. We watched it just melt away and were left with breathtaking views of the colorful fall folliage down below.

franconia ridge traverse
this is my seocond time over the ridge and has to be my favorite in the Whites. Was overcast and the threat of bad weather was looming off in the distance but it held up and still had some nice views coming over the ridge.
up old bridal path and down falling waters a little icy up at the top of falling waters but nothing terrible.
Wow what a beautiful peak to climb. I have climbed it, along with Lincoln, several times and always appreciate its beauty. I strongly recommend doing it in winter. The ridge in its white brilliance is a great place to be!

Old Bridal Path
One of my favorite hikes in the White Mountains. There was a guy playing bagpipes on the summit this time.

Really Busy Mountain
The trail we took up to the lodge was not crowded, but from there up things were packed. Probably saw close to one-hundred people on the mountain that day. The scenery was great, though, with the fall color changing and interesting weather.

Old Bridal Path
A Real Classic. Hiked it many Times-The Ridge To Lincoln is Tops. My Best Time up is 1:30 With Bruce Nadeau.
Hiked this on a cold fall day, up the Falling Waters Trail to Little Haystack, Lincoln, and then Lafayette. There was some snow at the top, just a dusting, and it made for some amazing pictures. Great hike.
This is the first winter hike I did with my (now husband). Brings back good cold memories. :-)

Franconia Ridge Traverse
While the weather was uncooperative, the hike was outstanding! Up Falling Waters, over Little Haystack, Lincoln, and Lafayette, then down the Old Bridle Path. An absoultely great day out with my 12 year old son. Can't wait to do it again.

Franconia Ridge Loop
Windy and wet, especially the 2 miles on the ridge - reminded me of Ireland. Low 40s with 40 mph wind gusts, but still a nice break from the 100 degree weather in the south. 5 and a half hour trip, including coffee at the Greenleaf Hut. I'll bet nice views were to be had from the ridge. Guess I'll have to find out another time.

Franconia Ridge Traverse
Climbed this one on my first hike on the wonderful Franconia Ridge Traverse loop. Unfortunately, it was very windy at the summit (perhaps gusting between 50 and 60mph), and no views were to be had on the summit of Lafayette. Was still a fun hike though.
