On the way back from Darwin
from either the col or the lake below. Great vantage point for views of Mendel and Darwin.
I think I stepped on the high point...
2/5 stars. Consolation in place of Mendel Left Couloir.
Hiked over to check out views on way to climb Darwin and Mendel the following day.
Up from the saddle on the way out from Darwin. Easy route with great views to the south.
Climbed from Lamarck Col on the last day of a South Lake to North Lake loop.
Day 4 of 2007 Sierra Challenge. I would have saved time approaching from SE slope instead of going to Lamarck Col first and then to summit. Met up with Mike Schasch and Elena Sherman on the summit.
Camped at Lower Lemarck Lake vicinity (it was dark) and bagged it the next day and out.
Climbed this thing super quick. This is a great afternoon or morning hike with no technical anything to worry about. Perfect if you're not comfortable with exposure. Later went up with my dad and girlfriend....so good! This peak has a great view of darwin and mendel!
Climbed with Derek, David, Nolan, and Gordon via Lamarck Col. Couldn't help but notice that Mt. Darwin is a beast...definitely on my list of peak to climb.
Solo from North Lake. Trails around Lamarck Lakes can be confusing.
Very worthy side trip from when crossing crossing Lamarck Col
From North Lake to Lamarck Lakes trail, up Class 2 SE slope, down Class 3 NW chutes to Darwin Bench... to Alpine Col, Piute Pass, North Lake... only patchy snow left.. lots of boulder/talus fields
Spectacular views of Darwin and Mendel still drapped in white.
Hiked with two friends from North Lake up to the Lamarck Lakes and a crest high above upper Lamarck Lake. Decided to go on to Lamarck Col and the ridge up to Mount Lamarck. Wondered wether this was the summit but found the register and signed it. Perfect sunny day, great views of the Evolution range.
A threatening sky made for good shots.
lamarck col is good to know about... a real quick easy route up to the evolutions, I had no idea - I climbed up to the right side of the col (no snow) and then found some class 3/4 scrambling along the ridge, followed by an easy finish - cody stayed by the col
