There was at least one other dog on the summit that day, but I think Cody and I took the most interesting route. Rather than look for the path up to the headwall, I found my own way up. It worked well for me, but I had to lift the dog through some hairy spots. It was quite an adventure. I don't think I could ever find that route again, but somehow it worked. The last 1000'+ after the headwall weren't so bad. We took the trail back down. Great trip. And we got out just before the Labor Day crowds took over.

Quadruple 14neer
Went up the Whitney Trail on Friday, camped at crowded Trail camp. The other day got up the switchbacks, made a little side trip to Mt. Muir, short fun climb! Continued following the trail up Whitney summit, spent few hours chatting with people (there were many), than climbed down the Mountaineers Route to Iceberg Lake and spent another windy night there. Didn't get much sleep as the wind blew instantly to my face through my bivy... Another morning I stared late ,9:30, and headed up the Iceberg Col and then traversed to Russel's South Face, which was a long scramble up the face, than a little class 3 up to the ridge. I took the easier Right Side variation. After hanging around summit with 2 guys who climbed Fishhook Arete, climbed down, packed all my stuff and followed the North Folk Creek Trail down to the portal. I must say it is much easier to do so if there is snow... My knees were killing me... That night I drove my car to Cottonwood Lakes trail head, camped there and in the morning started early for the Mt. Langley never ending day hike... Took me 9.5 hours round trip but it was worth it. Beautiful area at Cottonwood Lakes...
Met so many great people on this trip that I have talked to and spent some time with and that was certainly the most rewarding feeling of the whole trip...

Camped at Cottonwood 3 and to the top via Old Army. Had the top to myself for about a half hour. Enjoyed the giant steps down the sandy slopes (closest I've been to the Moon).

New Army Pass
A fun and scenic hike. Camped at High Lake. Lost the trail just beyond the pass but pushed toward the summit and eventually met back up with it. Quite windy but fantastic views from the summit!
Day hiked from Cottonwood lakes with warm weather. This was an easy but pleasant

From Cirque Lake we went up New Army, lost the trail, and considerable elevation, but we figured it out and summited. All but two of our 14 person group made it. My 1st real mountain, as I was 14 at the time. Good times.

Old Army Pass
We camped at Horseshoe Meadows (elevation about 10,000 feet), woke up early, and headed up the trail to Cottonwood Lakes at 6:30 a.m. The six-mile hike to Cottonwood Lakes went pretty fast. From the lakes there's a great view of Langley. The tougher part of the hike was between Cottonwood Lakes and the peak. From the last lake, I hiked up a rough trail to Old Army Pass. My hiking partner took a more direct Class 3 route, and we met at the top of the pass.
The final approach to the peak was a long, tough scree slope. It took a while to get to peak, but I made it up there by around 12:30 p.m. The weather was great all day long, so we took our time coming down.
Interesting trip. I went with a client who’d "done it before" and ended up having to hold his hand. We also picked-up two rookies from Tennessee at the trailhead. It killed me to see nice third class chutes and not be able to climb them because of my partners limited skills. A very pedestrian weekend, but still fun. I went back the next day and climbed the direct chute in Army Pass for fun.
