From ACH  Sucess!

Hiked up with dad in the fog. A few views broke out, but nothing spectacular. Also ventured over to Mt. Pickens(supposedly marked by the "Rover Club") in a hail storm! All-in-all a great day..

Stone Canyon  Sucess!

Hiked up Mount Lukens from Wildwood via Stone Canyon Trail. Beautifully cool temperatures on a May morning. Part of a training regimen for a week-long backpacking trip in the Eastern Sierra in a few months. Great but relentless uphill battle.

Stoned Sister Elsie  Sucess!

Have hiked Stone Cyn twice and the overgrown, tick-infested Sister Elsie Trail (from Haines Cyn) a couple times.

When I was 19 I ignorantly climbed straight up the mountain from the end of Dunsmore in La Crescenta. I was unable to descend until I got up to the Haines fire road. I was so relieved to find a way down that I didn't bother going the last few hundred feet to the top.

Lukins Fireroad mtn. bike ride  Sucess!

It was probably 10 years ago but if I remember right it took us about 2 hours to ride up non stop from the Fire Station on Anglels Crest Highway. We came down a trail that came out a little ways up the highway.

Traverse  Sucess!

Fox/Condor/Iron/Lukens - snow below 5,000ft made this harder than it could have been. It was raining when we started and almost gave up. Climbed with Matthew and Glenn. Trip Report

Route Climbed: Crescenta View Trail  Sucess!

Second hike up Mount Lukens in last two weeks. 1st time went up Haines Canyon Fire road. This time started out at Deukmejian Park in Dunsmore Canyon. Elected to take the Crescenta view trail which switchbacks the east side of the canyon and eventually you top out on Pickens Spur where you can follow a low maintenance fire road north up to the main fire road that originates from SR2 (Popular trek for mountain bikers)Turn left and about another 1/2 mile to the summit. This trail is about 3.25 miles and you gain about 2800 feet. A good portion of the trail is on the south facing side of the mountains and therefore affords great views of the Crescenta Valley and beyond at higher altitudes. Lower trail is well covered and lush in areas. During the summer this can be extremely hot.

Route: Lukens Fireroad Date Climbed Feb. 27, 2005  Sucess!

Rode my mountain bike to Mt.Lukens via the Lukens Fireroad starting at the Angeles Crest Fire Station. This is a 14 mile roundtrip. I've biked and run this route quite a few times. This fireroad has its charms. The second way I've been up was a run along the Haines Canyon Fireroad. This was about an 11 mile roundtrip. The third route I've taken is the Dunsmore Ridge Route starting in Deukmejian Wilderness Park in Glendale (a hike). The terrain on this route is quite a bit more challenging than the fireroad routes. It is too bad that this summit is marred by metal towers.

Route Climbed: Stone Canyon trail Date Climbed: January 22, 2006  Sucess!

Cold and windy, but great visibility. A great trail. Too bad I didn't know about it earlier. The radio towers kind of suck.

Route Climbed: various Date Climbed: many many times!  Sucess!

Been to the summit dozens of times over the years, always by bicycle. Usual route is Haines Canyon. Have been up the two roads that start on Angeles Crest Highway, and have descended the Stone Canyon Trail. Seen snow and black ice in the winter, and 100+F temps in the summer.
